Going home to the shire, over the River Endrick

flip side of Blondie's "the tide is high"

This was the evening of wonderful sunset shots, and you can tell it was going to be special. This wonderful dark cloud contrasted with the sun drenched limestone cliffs welcoming me back home after Sussex! I almost wanted to rush down, but as John Martyn sang, Go down easy, timely advice, and an amazing piece of work!

She let go. Without a thought or a word, she let go.

She let go of the fear.

She let go of the judgments.

She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head.

She let go of the committee of indecision within her.

She let go of all the ‘right’ reasons. Wholly and completely, without hesitation or worry, she just let go.

She didn’t ask anyone for advice.

She didn’t read a book on how to let go.

She didn’t search the scriptures.

She just let go.

She let go of all of the memories that held her back. She let go of all of the anxiety that kept her from moving forward.

She let go of the planning and all of the calculations about how to do it just right.

She didn’t promise to let go. She didn’t journal about it.

She didn’t write the projected date in her Day-Timer.

She didn’t check the weather report or read her daily horoscope.

She just let go.

She didn’t analyze whether she should let go.

She didn’t call her friends to discuss the matter.

She didn’t do a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment.

She didn’t call the prayer line.

She didn’t utter one word.

She just let go.

No one was around when it happened. There was no applause or congratulations.

No one thanked her or praised her.

No one noticed a thing. Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go.

There was no effort.

There was no struggle. It wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad. It was what it was, and it is just that.

In the space of letting go, she let it all be. A small smile came over her face. A light breeze blew through her. And the sun and the moon shone forevermore.

I guess I can do running themes or concepts...sometimes, when the subject matter provides.

Also. thank you to the light sculptor and the boat folks of Plymouth, for providing this.

The relatively balmy weather we've had this January means that there is no ice on the Mississippi, and thus the eagles are spread out. We saw quite a few of them-- well over 50-- but they all along a number of miles of the river, rather than being concentrated at the locks. They also were able to fish the entire width of the river, which resulted in more distant fishing shots like this one. The 'Eagle Days' event in Clarksville Missouri was packed with people, though.

Historic Village of Shirakawa-gō ( a UNESCO World Heritage Site)

Shirakawa-go (Shirakawa Village) is a Japanese mountain settlement in what was once considered a wild and unexplored region. Because of the area’s natural environment, with high mountains and heavy snowfall, interaction with neighboring regions was limited. However, this also created the conditions for the development of unique cultural practices and lifestyles. Now registered as a World Cultural Heritage site.

When no one wants to be with you......... go alone

I took a little break and went outside to enjoy the snow. Returning, I had camera in hand and waited to reach floor 9. What to do while I wait...take a elevator selfie. Of course! :-P

Our first Walnuts! Our Harvest! A nut and a nutcracker - A perfect match!

Another shot from my forest wander last week. I know these woods well, I know from past visits that some of these gully's had water but I did expect to find such an amount of fast flowing water. Making compositions was not easy not so bad for this one but another stream proved to be more difficult, This scene is a little chaotic but it is how nature intended to be be, I don`t mind doing a little gardening in a scene but I will not alter a scene so as to change it altogether.

With this image I had one tripod leg in the stream and one foot on the edge to compose a diagonal flow through the image and to keep the wonderful fallen leaves in as well, my biggest problem was the bright area at the top I did use my polariser and have used the highlights slider to reduce the brightness rather than crop.

Flood water and huge puddles are now going down slowly which reminds me of a song from a fave artist of mine who is no longer with us, If you like the blues give this a go

The well was dry beside the door,

And so we went with pail and can

Across the fields behind the house

To seek the brook if still it ran;

Not loth to have excuse to go,

Because the autumn eve was fair

(Though chill), because the fields were ours,

And by the brook our woods were there.

We ran as if to meet the moon

That slowly dawned behind the trees

, The barren boughs without the leaves,

Without the birds, without the breeze.

But once within the wood, we paused

Like gnomes that hid us from the moon,

Ready to run to hiding new

With laughter when she found us soon.

Each laid on other a staying hand

To listen ere we dared to look,

And in the hush we joined to make

We heard, we knew we heard the brook.

A note as from a single place,

A slender tinkling fall that made

Now drops that floated on the pool

Like pearls, and now a silver blade.
