The single, windswept tree that gives the photographers a foreground subject shown with the setting sun providing rays behind, Heathcliff was beyond the rocks!

Missing those days. At the moment it is much too cold & dry to catch such a sight.

It may be a cliché, but I could not resist. This is another shot from the sizzling hot evening earlier this month when I took an air conditioned drive after supper to beat the heat. It was 38°C (100F) when I started out, and 26C (79F) when I returned two and a half hours later.

I just read this morning that from space, western North America currently looks like an ashtray. Unhealthy levels of smoke are predicted for my area over the next few days. I made this shot before forest fire season really got started in BC; despite the fiery colours, the air then was clear. July and August used to be prime time for outdoor activities, but things have changed.

Croatia is a country in Southeast Europe. It borders Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro to the southeast, sharing a maritime border with Italy. Croatia was part of the former Yugoslavia. A population of 4 million, most of whom are Catholics. Zagreb is the capital. Balanced between the Balkans and Central Europe, this country has been passed between rival kingdoms, empires and republics for thousands of years. If there is an advantage to this ongoing disruption, it is in the rich cultural legacy each has left behind. From Venetian palaces, Napoleonic fortresses, Slavic churches, Viennese mansions to socialist sculptures. But most attraction is the coastline with the remarkable clarity of the water and white pebbly beach. Despite being the fastest rising holiday destination in Europe in the past decade, Croatia still doesn't feel overrun by tourists. There are long sandy and winding beaches too, perfect for lazy days. Croatia is a beautiful country to discover many different landscapes. Dubrovnik is according to many one of the most beautiful cities on the Adriatic coast. This city in Croatia is also called the Pearl of the Adriatic. The historic center, or rather the completely walled fortress city of Dubrovnik, is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage. This part is still in a remarkably good condition. A wonderful place to discover on foot, it is a city with a diverse, but also rough past. Remarkably, the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches, as well as the various monasteries, palaces and fountains have been preserved. They all tell their own story from the Middle Ages.

Dubrovnik is a city on the Adriatic Sea in southern Croatia. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean Sea. The history of the city probably dates back to the 7th century. The old, completely walled fortress town from the thirteenth century is located at the foot of the mountain Srđ. From the immense city walls and towers you can look out over the city and the sea. From mountain Srđ you have a bird's-eye view on Dubrovnik.

Wait Without Hope

I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope

For hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love,

For love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith

But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting.

Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought:

So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing.

Whisper of running streams, and winter lightning.

The wild thyme unseen and the wild strawberry,

The laughter in the garden, echoed ecstasy

Not lost, but requiring, pointing to the agony

Of death and birth.

Sveti Jakov Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Dubrovnik is located in the eastern part of Dubrovnik Town in the tiny bay offering a distant look to the Old Town and the island Lokrum. The Wind Surf sailing yacht was anchored at the island of Lokrum along the beautiful Dalmatian coast next to old town of Dubrovnik.

The Wind Surf sailing yacht was anchored at the island of Lokrum along the Dalmatian coast next to Dubrovnik. The Wind Surf yacht is perhaps the most impressive of Windstar’s sailing yachts, and with space for 310 guests, she’s certainly the largest. It's a luxurious yacht who sails from Venice to Split, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Piran and back to Venice and other routes. Photo taken from Srđ mountain near the village of Bosanka. A beautiful view of Dubrovnik, island Lokrum and sailing yacht the Wind Surf.

First quick edit from one of the pics I´ve taken this morning.

Watching the rain pass over Loch Tay from the east when some nice light came in over Fearnan.

Black and white edit of my previous upload...I usually don't shoot Black and white landscapes, but I really, really like this one 😁

See you!

I think no caption needed here.

An image taken while decending Cadair Idris late in the afternoon as sunset was approaching. It had been one of those dark damp winter days and light rain was falling when suddenly the sun beamed down on Llyn Mwyngil (Tal-y-llyn lake) and colouring the sky to the west.

It bathes in the healing light. The mountain of life.

During a recent camping trip, the thing to do was head to the shoreline and watch the sunset. We didn't have many with color but in this case, I liked the way the sunlight came out from behind the clouds. The two guys in the foreground also had a photo lined up and were waiting for the perfect moment - the one on the far left with a DSLR and in the tank top on the right with a smartphone. The one on the right was running interference for the other - gently asking people that moved into the scene to back up a bit - and eventually giving up as people kept wandering in and out. I could sympathize with them as I've gone through the same myself - eventually embracing the presence of people to provide some perspective.

Turkey vulture and "God rays." Taken late afternoon yesterday, with crazy clouds and super dynamic light. I was hiking the canyon rim and looking for landscape compositions, but this guy started soaring overhead, and he gave me "the shot." Cue Collective Soul's "Shine."

Created another Lighthouse Waterscape, but wanted to make the sky very dark, dramatic and colorful. Hope you like it! Copyright (c) D.M.S Studios, DarMar Creations.

As I turned around from shooting the sunflowers in the photo prior to this post this is what I saw. There is a lot of smoke in the sky right now and the one thing it often does is make beautiful angel wings in the sky!

I was strolling with friends in light fog at Mackinaw City, Michigan, when I noticed these streaks of light being produced by shadows and light. Had no camera with me so I used my telephone for the shot. The rays seemed to be coming from or going onto the house.

"Tip of the Mitt", the name above the door, refers to its location. In the USA, the State of Michigan is shaped like a mitten. This house, when you hold your right hand up with the palm facing you, sits at the tip of your middle finger on Lake Huron (one of the five Great Lakes in the USA) . . . the tip of the mitt.
