The trees will tell their secrets to those that tune in.

~ Steven Magee

I took this a year ago on a very cold, foggy morning in Golden Ears Park. I don't see crepuscular rays like this often, and was totally in awe, as the sun shone through the fog.

You'll be seeing a few more from that day out, as I'm going through my archives again.

Rays peek through a moody blanket of rural Montana weather.

Usually November can mean dark skies and brown across the baron landscape. A week or so ago, I came across a beautiful scene with some amazing clouds crossing the landscape. Perfect for mono with the trees looking like ballet dancers across the horizon!

Happy Mono Monday!

A tribute from nature for those who perished as well as those who had their lives forever altered on Sept. 11. In so many ways it seems like yesterday and prayers that there is never a tomorrow like that day again.

Fantasy is of reality. People create fantasy, but it's influenced by real things. You may at some point end up in a place that looks like a fantasy. A perfect creation that seems like it's too perfect to be real. Something that can make you forget all mundane and stressful things. A fantasy of real life. If that ever occurs, just stop and take it in.

Crepuscular rays, or 'God rays', seem to emanate from Mt. Shasta in this sunrise scene.

Taken from west of the mountain early in the morning ... a counterintuitive choice, to be sure, as I was expecting to see Shasta silhouetted by the sun rising behind it. But instead I got treated to this spectacular display.

'Het Speulderbos' is called ' the forest of the dancing trees'. The forest is not just mysterious, it is also very rare. It's a paradise for birds (of prey), deer, badgers and wild boars. So there is enough choice to have a good time!

Cheryl: Ugh, A rainy day and a Monday. Talk about a downer double whammy, huh?

The conditions couldn't have been better for this. Godrays, fjords, sunset, an amazing vista. When you're traveling it's not always possible to time your visit at the best time in terms of light or even weather. I was incredibly lucky to have such a great sunset and was able to capture this moment in time.

Appletree in a canolafield under a dramatic sky with "godrays".

The view was amazing, but I only had my iPhone with me.

So however thinks an iPhone (12 Pro) couldn't shoot "real landscape" is proven wrong...

I hurried home to get my "big" camera, but the mood was almost gone (see my picture from yesterday),

No AI, no swapped sky, but of course some editing of the iPhone raw image.

Some rays of hope on this inncocent snowdrops. No Photoshop, single shot.

What a great morning that was. To be able to walk through this forest with his loved one and the dogs before starting work. That's when the day is saved before it even started.

Wishing you all a great weekend!

The new year began for us with bright sunshine.

Since my radiation hunter would of course equal loose;).

With this picture I will not put you in the shade, but at least you will enjoy in the shade.

I love to walk with you through the woods, explore cities and countries and enjoy life.

A fantastic restart,

2017 will be our year <3.

I am so happy that I like you so much, although I only two and a half months ago began to take pictures. It has also made it into the Explore, makes me speechless.

Es freut mich so sehr, das mein Bild euch so gefällt, obwohl ich erst vor zwei einhalb Monaten mit dem Fotografieren begonnen habe. Das es auch noch in den Explore geschafft hat, macht mich sprachlos.

Why'd you ever want to leave?

Why'd you go home?

Why, when the view is this good?

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Does the beauty go away if you stay too long?

Does it lose its impact?

What is enough?

How much is too much?

How can I know?

When can I go back?

I want to go back.

I always want to go back.

A large tidal pool left behind on Barassie Beach just pulled me in for this shot of the distant Isle of Arran and crepuscular rays from the edge of a storm cell as the sun was receding towards the horizon.

I don't even care about the completely blown out main highlight in the frame knowing that this scene is just one mile from my new home. I can return, anytime and in any weather. There is a deep sense of peace in that. If you look closely in my previous scene from this sunset you can see the very slight outflow from this tidal pool. It will give a sense of scale, the beach is much deeper than it looks.

Ever since I moved to Scotland 11 years ago I have always been drawn to this stretch of coastline - time and time again. Enjoy.

A quick landscape shot from Barassie Beach, Troon, Scotland.

An imperfect handheld shot, with some blown out highlights and a shallower depth of field than I would really like. I haven't picked up my camera in months, I am ashamed to admit, not at least with the intention of photographing something specific - and I am far from being a landscape photographer!

I can't believe that I now live just 1 mile from this view! A sea view being well outside of my price bracket but just 1 mile is close enough to call this home.

The sun was on it's way to setting with some gorgeous crepuscular rays over the Firth of Clyde, the Isle of Arran and the majestic outline of Goatfell. Off to the right was a storm cell and some huge downpour rainbands which I have captured in some other shots to come in the future. It was hard to believe that the two scenes were in the same place - it looked apocalyptic to the right of frame!

I put my back out again crouching for this shot but it has been in a bad way since moving day. More physiotherapy required but despite that and the imperfections in my shot, it feels like a lovely view of my new place in this beautiful world of ours. Enjoy.

This was a 6 or 7 shot pano I took on a nice calm evening on the lake with my Tamron 90mm macro

I really like the calmness you can see in the shot and the color of the sky reflected well in the water : )

I can vividly remember making this image on a cold late-October morning in 2016. The winds were strong and I could hear the call of seagulls in the distance.

Shot with the Olympus M.Zuiko 60mm F2.8 Macro.

Up atop the Grand Mesa tonight as a storm moved through the valley below us. Heaven opened up and shone a beam of light down on the valley. Amazing sight!

I peeked into this folder from months ago that I had written off as a failure and scrounged this one out of it. It was my first time trying out my 100-400, and I made some technical errors with the exposures, but I had done some exposure stacking on this image so once I tweaked it and merged the exposures in Photoshop it wasn't so bad. I think I was originally really disappointed that the foreground was blown out black, but looking at it again, maybe it adds to the composition having that layer of black in front. The view is from Bessie Butte a ways up and on the north side facing west. Mt Bachelor is the obscured Mountain on the right side.

There are no more beautiful moments for me in nature than these here

I re-edited this one to give it more of a feel for what the landscape actually looked like. It was a dark and gloomy day with sporadic breaks in clouds when the sun would shine through. The first edit bothered me because I felt that the lighting was all wrong. The image seemed too bright and cheery. The tall mountain in the distance is Mount Mather. It stands at 12,123 feet tall. I was pretty lucky to get the light rays before they disappeared and the rain started.

...standing in front of this. Priceless and filling my soul.

Taken out of hand, all natural light.
