I am a glutton when it comes to coffee-table-books...

This bronze bracelet took me 4 weeks to complete from design to finish. I had never done a hinge before. Why did I design something with 11 hinges? I'm a glutton for punishment.

(EXPLORE) OK.....yes, I did eat ALL the crackers!! I couldn't help myself! :))

Here's Pongo stuffed to the breaking point once again. It's hilarious watching hamsters shove everything in sight into those pouches and the look on her face clearly shows she's in need of a deposit, haha!

Happy weekend everyone, enjoy! But hey, a little moderation is also a good thing, lol!!

The correct name for this place is Makansutra Gluttons Bay. While waiting for my next meeting at Esplanade, I sketched at this outdoor food court next to Esplanade and opposite Marina Bay Sands. It was crowded. The oyster omelette was average but the ambiance was pleasantly cozy.

Here you go..I'm the latest pick in the tag series "16 things about you". I was tagged by Grandhi, a very good Flickr friend.

1.I ‘m, a motor mouth!! Talk a LOT. This quality of mine is both a strength and weakness. I have made so many good friends at the same time lost a few good ones because of this. Sometimes I don’t know when to stop.

2.I enjoy, eating. I'm a glutton. “I LOVE FOOD” period!!. Can eat sweets all day, Gulab Jamun being the favorite of all. I used to make some nice Gulab Jamuns couple of years ago but whenever I try it now it always ends up being a fiasco. I lost total touch in cooking. Thanks to my wife.

3.I do, Gym - To burn what I eat, I HAVE to go to gym everyday!!! Recently losing that balance because of tasty homemade food – I’m spoilt!!.

4.I explore, outdoor activities - I'm an outdoor person. I just cannot sit at one place for more than a couple of hours. I also hate indoor games. Always want to be out doing some physical activity. Hiking being the major one during summer. You can read about all my hikes here. Love to play tennis.

5.My Latest Love, Photography and its going to stay for some time. Developed a great interest towards this hobby in recent days. Flickr is one big reason for it.

6.I like to, travel. I would like to travel all the 50 states in US and all the states(with the number changing frequently) in India.

7.My Role models are Sachin Tendulkar, AR Rahman and Rajinikanth. Apart from what they have achieved, it’s their simplicity is what fascinates me.

8.I want to, do different things and things differently - I thrive to be different although most of the time end up sailing in the same boat like everybody else.

9.I wish to, prove something - I always have this thought going on in my mind though don't exactly know what I should prove. This gives me some sleepless nights in Seattle!!! As you can see I say "something" but I don’t what that something is.

10.My favorite Time Pass, movies. Sathyam, Chennai used to be my second home during college!! Although these days enjoy watching it at home sitting on a couch.

11.I get excited about, India. Anything Indian excites me. It’s got to do something with my blood!!!

12.My immediate goal is to setup a home studio and get some picture perfect shots.

13.I’m thankful to - All the friends that I made so far in my life. I’m just a mould in their hands.

14.My recent Grudge - Stuck at home due to horrible weather.

15.My greatest gift from God - My better(best) half.

16.I always think about, a cross country trip.

Now, I have to find some one to tag this series to....Beware you might be my next victim..

"The Peak District is an upland area in England at the southern end of the Pennines. It is mostly in northern Derbyshire, but also includes parts of Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, West Yorkshire, and South Yorkshire. An area of great diversity, it is mostly split into the Dark Peak, where most of the moorland is found and the geology is gritstone, and the limestone area of the White Peak.

The Peak District National Park became the first national park in the United Kingdom in 1951. With its proximity to the cities of Manchester, Stoke-on-Trent, Derby and Sheffield, and access by road and rail, it attracts millions of visitors every year. It is estimated that 20 million people live within one hour's journey of the Peak District.

Inhabited from the Mesolithic era, evidence exists from the Neolithic, Bronze and Iron Ages. Settled by the Romans and Anglo-Saxons, the area remained largely agricultural and mining grew in importance in the medieval era. Richard Arkwright built his cotton mills at the start of the Industrial Revolution. Quarrying became important as mining declined. Tourism grew after the advent of the railways, visitors attracted by the landscape, spa towns at Buxton and Matlock Bath, Castleton's show caves, and Bakewell, the national park's only town.

Tourism remains important for its towns and villages and their varied attractions, country houses and heritage sites. Outside the towns, walking on the extensive network of public footpaths, cycle trails, rock climbing and caving are popular pursuits. The Friends of the Peak District's 190-mile (310 km) Boundary Walk is a new long-distance trail addition." - info from Wikipedia.

Summer 2019 I did a solo cycling tour across Europe through 12 countries over the course of 3 months. I began my adventure in Edinburgh, Scotland and finished in Florence, Italy cycling 8,816 km. During my trip I took 47,000 photos.

The Glutton.

Post 5 things you love about yourself & 2 things you dislike about yourself. Today is something that I do not like myself, gluttony, I like too chocolates and sweets. That's cause I have overweight, I have to lose weight.

Georg Emanuel Opiz (4 April 1775, Prague - 12 July 1841, Leipzig) was a Bohemian German painter and graphic artist. He also wrote some now-forgotten historical novels, under the pseudonym "Bohemus".

His father, Johann Ferdinand Opiz (1741–1812), was a tax official who also worked as a writer and magazine editor, and carried on a correspondence with Giacomo Casanova.[1] His mother, Louise Philippine, was a great niece of the explorer, Engelbert Kaempfer. His brother was the botanist, Philipp Maximilian Opiz.

The Glutton

After completing his secondary education in Prague, he took a law degree, while studying drawing and painting in his spare time. In 1793, he continued those studies at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts, where his primary instructor was Giovanni Battista Casanova, Giacomo's brother.

In 1798, he made his living by painting the wealthy guests at the spa in Karlsbad. Around 1800, he was in Hamburg and Bremen then, from 1801 to 1803, in Vienna. It was there he created his Scenes from the Street and Folk Life of Franciscan Vienna (a reference to Emperor Francis I). Some of these were made into etchings by Kilian Ponheimer [de], among others, and established his reputation as a genre artist. His style was influenced by William Hogarth and Daniel Chodowiecki.[2]

In 1805, he and his wife settled in Leipzig, where he produced portrait miniatures. In 1814, following the War of the Sixth Coalition, he went to Paris to create and sell etchings related to the Coalition's victory. He apparently remained there until 1817, when he returned to Leipzig and created a series of etchings on life in Paris, published by F. A. Brockhaus. From 1818 to 1830, he worked as an engraver for the magazine Urania, also published by Brockhaus. Numerous erotic etchings have been attributed to him.

His major publication, Character Scenes from Life in Paris, with twenty-four colored etchings, appeared in 1819. During the 1820s, he produced watercolors which suggest that he visited Russia and the Ottoman Empire. In the latter part of the 1820s, he became a Professor at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig. During this period, his well-known Leipziger Messe Scenes were published in Dresden.

Singapore, Marina Bay: A tourist couple takes a selfie at the "touristy" outdoor food centre named the "Makansutra Gluttons Bay". It's a convenient collection of multiple local foodd fares. Food quality is actually reasonably good, though like all "good food", you'll want to be aware of the health impacts. "Touristy" so it is more expensive. Not too many locals here since they know where to find alternative places that may be cheaper plus other food varieties that aren't the usual stereotypes represented here.

Things have been pretty cruel for me in the landscape world lately. Being the glutton that I am, I decided to keep on going out and trying anyway.

Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in DC, but I just can't bear the crowds and strollers and iphonographers who think they're awesome taking pictures of their 5-year old in a stroller with a phone flash. That's just me though. All I've seen are AWESOME shots from folks who've braved the throngs!

I was fearful I'd be unfortunate again this morning for a number of reasons but... I think I worked really hard while shooting today. Hope you like it.

Macro Monday (1.2.2012) - "This New Year"

This is fo the Macro Monday theme "This New Year". This year, I am going to do another Project 365...or in this case, 366. Clearly, I must be a glutton for punishment! LOL

Driving down the road on Grand Manan and saw a flock of cedar waxwings descend on two mountain ash trees, most of the berries were gone in about 15 minutes.

How many wannabes does it take to change a lightbulb? What's more, can wannabes have their heads sorted enough to be able to see that there's a lightbulb, that it needs changing and that there may be ways that, if they were able to sort themselves out and see the lightbulb in the first place, they might even begin to realise that there may be ways to figure this all out that they haven't grasped yet, possibly connected to the fact that they're wannabes?

I don't fucking know. In this image, I think I look miles more handsome in our bathroom mirror, than I do in the other image. I dunno if that says anything and I don't really care, right now, or maybe I do. Who knows? Anyway, at least I know, in the way I look in this mirror, that I cannot be merely an animal, because I can compare myself in the Smartphone Era with many of the animals from the 1500s who use mirrors before going to Nero's in such a way that they'll never quite suss will ever tell them what they really, seriously, urgently, need to know. But maybe that's their look out. I dunno.

I could go on about events today at the epicentre of a bizarre form of life at Weavers Wharf, Kidderminster, but I won't. Too much information right now, perhaps, and my Mom's cooked some beef curry, so I've soon got to do the conventional thing and eat, even though I'm seriously thinking of giving up food to test the psychological effects of distancing myself further from the ANIMALS in the zoo that is Kidderminster's town centre.

That said, there's always summat interesting going on there and, because I can't be bothered to drive to the symbolically nearby Safari Park, as the monkeys always skank my motor's windscreen wiper nipples, Weavers Wharf will do, for now.

Earlier, when I was still playing with the animals in the zoo, I saw someone unreachably tragic enter the joint, so I left early, coz I really wasn't up for listening to the surface bullshit, knowing full well what it means, and which just makes me think of some poor bloke desperately trying his hand at skating, for the very first time, only on thin ice. No. So I left early.

I'm lying in bed, now, trying to do my sums for the day, so I can frame it all in a way that makes some sort of sense, if that's at all possible. Again, it's good detox and can remove the psychological residue of having travelled back and been exposed to life in the 1500s by spending another day in Kidderminster. What a fucking glutton for punishment I really am.

I think I'm gradually coming to the inescapable conclusion that social interaction in the 1500s is not conducive to making the most of the Smartphone Era. However, I think that sort of time travel could be useful in getting closer to understanding people when they really were more like animals and so helps me in thinking about all this deep shit about human impulses and drives, because animals don't mask it as well as the people in the 21st Century, making it easier to see the fundaMENTALS and maybe even less of a headache in the long run.

I think I'm also going to have to look at managing the sort of depth psychology I think I'm going to need to be able to tap into the disruptive stuff, whilst still being able to function in a conservative, limiting, backward environment. That does need to be done or there's a danger that I go around like one of those tragic ex-students who got stung out on acid once too often and never survived, in cognitive terms, to tell the tale.

I think, also, that I need to start reading stuff again, even though that's usually a drag, these days. With that, I've got to come to terms with the instant fatigue I often get from reading stuff that's totally dull or taps into the essentially same old stuff I was hearing in the 90s, before I went on quite a long psychosocial holiday, which I'm only really coming back from, now. Sorry, I know that there's many people out there with some great ideas, I'm sure, but has anyone really said anything fundamentally new and exciting since the hippies or since the 90s? That I'm not sure about and I don't know whether really want to bother with that Kindle Touch that I've had for ages but have still to use. What's more, although I may sound like an ill-informed knob who knows fuck all, at times (maybe true, maybe not), I dunno if books are now the way forward or if they'll damage the independent, disruptive Smartphone Era vibe I like now with traces and echoes of conservative, limiting stuff. I mean, why write a book, anyway, if you catch my drift.

Today, as I was leaving the zoo in the year 1500 and making my way to my motor (strangely still compelled to observe the animals so more...thought about even going to Sainsburys), I started to think that I may never leave the physical space called Kidderminster. Funny thing is, that I think I'm cool with that, because I, perhaps naively, believe right now that I could survive there and remain psychosocially, ideologically and culturally independent from the environment. I think I've sussed that one, but I may need to think more about it. Dunno.

Anyway, I like our bathroom, even though I'm in bed, thinking of eating that curry. I reckon I'm gonna eat it in the back garden because I don't want to get exposed to that TV, or whatever it is. Horrible thing. Should be outlawed.

Just heard sirens across town. Signs, or tricks, suggesting this is some sort of modern world, while I now know that when I look out of my window, it's nothing of the fucking sort and that I have an insight into earth in the 1500s. It's a bit like watching interference on a computer screen while trying to communicate with aliens from another planet.

Anyway, it's curry time. It's probably cold by now. I hardly ever eat warm food, these days. But what's more important? Checking in on a Planet Earth that I am convinced exists, in 2012, beyond Clent Hills, on the horizon of my window's view, of course. Food's food, at the end of the day, and I'm sure I'll live. And, anyway, I know there's a world beyond those hills and I know that it's 2012 there, unless this Internet thing is a bigger lie than this Animal Kingdom, that is Kidderminster, in the 1500s.

Keep em peeled...

This GBH is taking on more than it can chew! After jostling around a bit, he did finally finish his meal with one big gulp.

Inspired by this week's theme for "Themes & Challenges: Seven Deadly Sins". Duncan is an insatiable glutton for cheese. All it takes is hearing the word and he begins to drool. Holding a piece of it in my hand ensures his full attention.

This didn't turn out as well as I'd wanted. I rejected most attempts because of blown highlights, underexposed face, boring gray background... Fiddled with the best of them a LOT in Lightroom and in Photoshop, trying all kinds of tools in both that I need to learn to use better.

Only one more week of classes, then exams, then maybe I'll have time to work on my photography skills more? (Of course I'm kidding myself; that's exactly when I leave to collect the new puppy). Flights are booked!
