So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

I think I'm quite Street wise but the 'No fox given' phrase has passed me by.....The word 'fox' in common culture is replaced by another 4 letter word beginning with F...... Meaning I dont care. I really like the composition of this one and got lucky given I only had to trip the shutter 1 time today. This is not cropped. The reason i like this composition so well is these bushes line the entrance to the parking lot of my workplace. there are 2 rows of about 30 plants in each row. I have worked here for over 6 months. 4 times a day, 5 days a week for 6 month i drive past these bushes and today is the first day I noticed them.

Camara Delobos was this traditional fishing village, situated five kilometres from Funchal, which inspired Sir Winston Churchill to paint its lovely surroundings. The village was given its name by the explorers João Gonçalves Zarco and Tristão Vaz Teixeira because of the shape of its bay and the many Mediterranean monk seals (‘lobos’) living there at the time.
I succumbed to a moment of nostalgic weakness and perused my archives. Given my complete lack of organizational know-how, matched only by my supreme hoarding skills (this, by the way, is a recipe for disaster), I was pleasantly surprised to find this little gem languishing there. I was even more impressed by the fact that, apparently, I had already done most of the processing on this. I began to ponder what made me abandon those efforts in favour of whatever else I ended up doing. Was it the Instant Pot and my quest for the perfect Hungarian Goulash recipe? Who knows and who really cares. (It did end up tasting delicious, however).
So, I am sharing with you now the female Downy as she does her best Nuthatch impression. Actually, she needs to rotate some more, but not bad for a first try. Just as a point of interest, I am proud to report that no canoe was involved here to move myself into position to obtain the best possible perspective and light on the iris. The reason I mention a canoe is that I have found that some of the best iris shots I have ever seen were taken from the vantage point of a canoe (Jerome). So I did some research and I found that a canoe can indeed be quite instrumental in navigating to the position required for a perfect iris shot. As my mind drifts off to ponder the possibilities of this, I quickly realize that my circumstances up here differ somewhat drastically from Jerome’s . For one thing, there is no bayou in this area and I do appreciate that a canoe is best used on water. Yes, we do have some lakes that might do the job but I don’t think they would really function as adequate stand-ins for the bayou. I would also have to acquire a trailer and permit to transport the canoe but then I’d need some practice backing up with the trailer … the more I contemplate this, the more I discover the difficulties with this plan. Of course, I could just plant the canoe in the yard and use it as a stationary structure to take my shots from. But the sun does travel during the day which would require me to push/pull/drag the canoe to the most advantageous spot, given the time of day. How likely am I to do that? Right, … not! I could invest in multiple canoes and position them strategically in the yard to solve the placement variation quandary. But wait, wait … wait! I realized quickly when I knew I should I already have something that works quite nicely for me without having to invest in a pelican box. Yes, you got it … The Adirondack. Much more easily positioned in my location of choice – I actually have two, which simplifies matters even further. True, it’s not as exotic as a canoe but really we are after results here and not the actual journey. And another benefit is that it’s much easier to sip a Krombacher in the Adirondack and maintain my balance and a semblance of decorum, especially if it’s more than one during the course of the day. And … I don’t have to leave the premises …

Two weeks since we saw Lion and had given up hope but simply could not stop looking because of Beau's sad demeanor....my sister suggested maybe Lion got packed away with the Christmas decorations and could be in the loft.. Jonathan and I didn't have an ounce of energy left and are still in pain after small but painful injuries incurred when searching for Lion during the last few days. I asked my son Ivan who came down and went into the loft but no Lion there.. He looked in the wheelie bin ( the only place we hadn't looked apart from the loft...not there. He went back out to the conservatory (which is very small ) and looked under the sofa and both chairs..not there..pulled out a sofa to see if Lion was behind it and.........Lion dropped down to the floor and Beau had Lion back at last..phew. Much rejoicing of an almost 11 year old dog being reunited with an even older raggy lion..bought second hand for its raggy softness and rubbed all over Beau who was straight from the whelping pen. He still had raggy Teddy..same history but has been taught to fetch Teddy and Lion separately and was still searching disconsolately every day for Lion.. Not quite the same as a Lion lying down a lamb. Just our Beau laying down with Teddy and Lion.. Have to tell him to bring both again now ..Sue :)

The challenge is that the word you choose must include the letter Z.
Given the long freezing winter we have endured, it was maybe not surprising that I chose "froZen" and looked out the ice-cube tray!
This is a snail shell frozen in tonic water, which I hoped would give me lots of bubbles. It was a bit disappointing, as it was cloudy when frozen - but some of the cubes came out with 'holes' that looked like ice caverns. It was a fun way to spend a morning, chasing the shots before the ice cubes melted!
The ice cubes are about 4cmx3cm.
HMM!! and stay safe and well this week!

One or two roses in my garden are particularly stubborn and refuse to admit that winter approaches and most other rose plants have given up already!
The blue bits on the soil are dead petals that need to be sorted out and chucked away but my condition at present makes that an impossibility!

Having been given permission back out onto the main, the engineer on the "Rosario Local" throttles up his two SD40s while the brakeman waits to re-line the derail once the short train is clear. They've just finished switching Nustar Asphalt, which can be seen in the far right of this shot. This track is part of the pre-1966 AT&SF alignment, which generally followed the Rio Galisteo from near its confluence with the Rio Grande towards Lamy.
This was the culmination of a one year long desire and about a four hour wait. I had seen this shot in my head ever since beginning my time qualifying out of Albuquerque, but it was either "they don't run up here anymore" or (once regular, predictable service resumed) I was always working when this job was working. Everything fell together today though, and it was worth waiting for!

Another dip into the older files given a dearth of outings recently. Hardly an original composition but I thought it deserved a run out.
Semaphores still ruled the roost when this shot was taken at Barnetby, and would do so for another couple of years. Probably less appreciated at the time was how swiftly coal traffic, once the mainstay freight of the rail network, was going to diminish to an almost complete halt.
In this shot Freightliner Shed 66509 takes the loop line with the 7.00am Ferrybridge Power Station - Immingham Docks empty coal hoppers (4R35). Here it would wait time for around 40 minutes while passenger trains passed and took right of way and possibly to meet operational requirements at Immingham Docks.
Wrawby Junction Signal Box is just visible over the rear of the train.

I knew that moving from Florida, that I would miss the burrowing and barred owls ... but I also knew that Colorado would offer up its own variety of owls. I put a few of them high on my list, but probably none higher than the northern pygmy owl. See, I had never seen one before. Several times I had been looking without success. I figured that it would happen when I least expected it.
On this day, we went out in a desperate search to find one ... or perhaps a saw whet owl. No such luck. We had all but given up. As we were driving about, Amy said she saw something that was "too small" to be anything, but I had my binoculars with me, so I fugured why not stop and check it out. So glad that we did ... because we found this guy perched in the bare tree branches! Finally .... it happened and as figured, when we had all but given up for that day anyway.
I couldn't believe how incredibly beautiful and mesmerizing its eyes were. It was clearly not the least bit concerned with us. It would look around from its perch in its vicinity for prey. When it would turn its head we noticed its dots on the back of its head ... "fake eyes" if you will. Amazing!
So excited and felt very thrilled that it blessed us with its presence. :-)

This is an oldie ('21), but it deserves an encore. This Kirtland's Warbler, found at Swann Park in Baltimore, is the only one recorded for Maryland. It stayed for a week or so, giving excited birders many fantastic views. It exhibited no fear of humans, occasionally landing on or walking over shoes as it searched for food. Given the behavior, thinking was that it was a young bird.

Given that our Autumn was very warm and sunny I had an opportunity to ride down to Scarborough. I found this perspective to view one of the Surf lifesaving watch towers. It is an astonishgly beautiful structure and from this vantage point is reminds me of Jeffrey Smart's paintings. I used my personal "film" settings based on Fujifilms chrome settings. I have a few more shots that are subtly different. Just a beautiful minimalist view with bright colours.
This was hard to miss, given the commotion the babies made begging for food! If it had sat still and quiet, I probably would have overlooked it.

(Romans 1:16-17)
16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. 7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)
1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Given the upsurge in youth crime, many different approaches are being adopted to stop mindless thieves entering your home. We are happy to deploy Charlotte, the Golden Orb-Weaver Spider across our front porch. Anyone who comes may get a nasty case of Orb-Weaver face. She sits happily out there, even on really hot days which must crisp up her food sacs which can be seen above. I decided to put Charlotte up today (and yes, we do talk to her) because of the story below from today's news about a Micro Bat getting caught in "Goldie's" web in a town up inNorth Queensland. You can read about it here. Golden orb spider captured eating microbat in Far North Queensland.
Sadly, Charlotte passed away not long after she laid her egg sac, see later photo and we buried her in the earth from which she came.

In memory of a good friend, who didn't get to stay here.
His friendship was extended to everyone around him, and I was lucky enough to be one of those people who experienced it.
This blurry, underexposed picture was taken near the B52 crash site by Snake Pass, Peak district. It was cold and the light was fading but we were both so happy to be there with our cameras.
These looked a bit like Snapdragons, but I don't think they are.
