Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Given the right conditions, these mushrooms have been around for a few weeks now. I was there at the right time with some nice light behind them. It made focusing with this camera and longer lens easier. Taken with a 30 image stack otherwise the stock would have been blurred. Why don't I use my Z9, it's too proud off the ground (too high). The Z7II hugs the ground nicely for these Mushroom images.

Given the lousy, damp miserable climate we are currently enduring I thought I'd look back to a spell of better weather earlier in the year. This particular day I took a solo hike over Striding Edge, Helvellyn and home to Patterdale via Raise. It was on elf those days where there was no encouragement whatsoever to make an early end to the day.

This is a stone that was given to my wife Sammy by a friend when she was recovering from surgery some years ago. She was told it was a healing stone, and she recovered from her surgery quickly and fully. So, who knows? Maybe it really works.

I want to take a moment to thank all the wonderful people who have trusted me with blogging their creations, to all those who have given me tips and answered my never ending questions.
I have a very stressful, IT job in RL and by nature am an introvert, so I often don't think about all the blessing I have nor am I comfortable expressing my gratitude. I am also very shy about reaching out to my SL Community.

Crossing the city we find the Thu Bon River, which has shaped and marked the lives of the inhabitants of Hoi An for centuries.
Nowadays, walking along its banks or having a coffee at the foot of its waters is one of the activities that you cannot miss.
Hoi An Full Moon Lantern Festival
Although Hoi An looks postcard-perfect every night, the Ancient City is most spectacular during the monthly Lantern Festival, when locals release illuminated paper lanterns into the river to promote good health and fortune. It is a must-see and worth modifying in your Vietnam itinerary.
One of the most popular ways to experience the Thu Bon River in Hoi An is on a 1-2 hour boat ride. Embark on a bamboo boat with a fisherman to learn local fishing techniques or opt for a short cruise on a modern boat to Cua Dai Beach. If you are a thrill seeker, spinning like crazy in a basket boat is a must-try experience.
Just saw the moon appear above the building opposite ours and took the shot from my balcony. I am always fascinated with the moon since childhood and love the many variations one sees.
The actual full moon was actually April 30th but too many clouds obscured it for me. It is called the Pink Moon but it is NOT pink. These are just names given long ago by Indigenious peoples.
I have given this scene from Arches National Park a title that is a quote from the book "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King," by J.R.R. Tolkien. When I composed the photo, I had the idea that the rock walls appeared to look like a castle with a tower on the left. But it was in the editing process that I discovered the long shadow in the foreground which created a mood that for me felt like the scene painted by Tolkien's prose.

The Ever Given made a name for itself worldwide when it wrecked in the Suez Canal in March 2021. The ship had turned sideways and had to be freed from it. The blockage caused more than 370 ships to pile up at the ends of the canal, which also had an impact on the global economy. With a capacity of over 20,000 TEU, the ship is one of the largest container ships in the world. The ship visited Hamburg in the last few days. At Burchardkai I was able to photograph the ship between the HMM Copenhagen and the Taurus.
For the Macro Monday challenge "Zed" (May 10th 2021)
The challenge is that the word you choose must include the letter Z.
Given the long freezing winter we have endured, it was maybe not surprising that I chose "froZen" and looked out the ice-cube tray!
This is a snail shell frozen in tonic water, which I hoped would give me lots of bubbles. It was a bit disappointing, as it was cloudy when frozen - but some of the cubes came out with 'holes' that looked like ice caverns. It was a fun way to spend a morning, chasing the shots before the ice cubes melted!
The ice cubes are about 4cmx3cm.

One for the record really, given the unusual combo. 37510 had travelled to York the previous day in preparation for the drag of a TPE set from Scarborough. The tractor was due off York at 11.10 as the 0E01 but it was very late. Watching eagerly on Railcam, I could see the 37 idling away, but it didn't move until 12.07. This meant the path back, hauling the set would be late, and potential loss of sun as a front was moving in.

Here's this week's "Steam Sunday" offering a day late....because well I was a little distracted yesterday!
This photo should need no introduction given the massive amount of coverage of this event not just in the railfan community but in mass media and by the general public writ large. This is truly, without hyperbole, the railfan event of a generation and perhaps THE event of our lifetime. Never in any of my wildest dreams would I have believed a Union Pacific Big Boy would be under steam traveling far off "home rails" touring the eastern half of the nation. But here we are....the biggest on the biggest.....the largest steam locomotive in the world ever designed and built by the hand of man steaming across the largest concrete railroad bridge on the planet. This view looks down from Spencer Hill Road as UP 4014 accompanied by diesels from UP and host road Norfolk Southern both numbered 1776 steams south 240 ft above the valley of Tunkhannock Creek at about MP 653.2 on modern day NS' Sunbury Sub mainline.
As a tribute the semiquicentennial the Union Pacifc 4014 embarked on a coast to coast tour that saw it steam from Cheyenne on March 29th and travel to California to visit Milepost 0 denoting the start of the Central Pacific Railroad in Sacramento. It returned to Cheyenne on April 24th for a month before starting east on this much anticipated and unprecedented journey on May 25th. 4014 will celebrate the 4th of July in Philadelphia before starting back west ultimately scheduled to return home on July 29th! The 1.2 million pound 4-8-8-4 rolled off the erecting floor of the American Locomotive Company in Schenectady, NY in Dec. 1941 and went cold on July 21, 1959 before returning to steam and moving again under its own power on May 1, 2019. This is one of those legendary places in railroading everyone should see at least once for themselves. It truly is breathtaking and hard to wrap your head around when you see it for the first time. I've photographed trains in many places where they are dwarfed by the environment. In all those other cases it is nature that humbles the train be it towering mountains, or mighty rivers, or the vastness of the desert southwest but not here. Here it is the work of man that dwarfs the train....even one this big.....in the form of Tunkhannock Creek Viaduct...the lagest concrete railroad bridge in the world.
Built by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad between 1912 and 1915 as part of the railroad's Nicholson Cutoff project which as a new 39.6 mile alignment between Clarks Summit, PA and Hallstead, PA that shortened the line by 3.6 miles but more importantly reduced the gradient and 2400 degrees of curvature for the massive amount of freight traffic (much of which was anthracite coal) flooding the line. The cutoff also included the construction of a 3600 ft tunnel and the shorter but no less impressive Martins Creek Viaduct in a similar concrete arch style. The DL&W was a pioneer in concrete construction using the material for depots and towers and had built two smaller but concrete arch bridges over Paulins Kill and the Delaware River five years earlier as part of its Lackawanna cut off project.

This route remained important and busy even after the Lackawanna's 1960 merger with the Erie. However after Erie-Lackawanna was folded into Conrail in 1976 the big blue government railroad had little use for the line and in 1980 sold it to the Delaware and Hudson between Binghamton and Scranton so they could replace and abandon their challenging Penn Division over Ararat Summit. The D&H continued to operate the line which during the Guilford years was a link in the 752 mile long Freight Main Line reaching from Mattawamkeag, Maine to Kase Tower in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. Guilford spun the D&H off into bankruptcy in 1988 and Canadian Pacific purchased the road in 1991 continuing to send up to a dozen trains a day over this route. Finally in 2015 CP sold all of the former D&H south of Mohawk Yard in Schenectady, NY to Norfolk Southern which continues to operate it a decade later, though these days little more than one giant train in each direction normally travels via this now single tracked route.

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 17th of January is "plush toys", which is the perfect theme for me, as I have a lovely collection of soft plush bears who quite enjoy being in front of my camera and under my lens. Both made by Merrythought Bears in Ironbridge, Shropshire, Edgar and Benjamin are the two latest additions to my ever burgeoning bear family. I hope you like my choice of bears for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile.
This beautiful Willow Pattern nursery tea set was made in England by the Shell China Company in the 1920s. It features four cups and saucers as well as a tea pot, coffee pot, milk jug and sugar bowl. Each piece is gilt edged and decorated with the Willow Pattern in blue, just like the life-size equivalent. It has two sister sets: a 1920s Shell China Company nursery rhyme tea set that I was given as a gift some years ago by a close friend who knows I collect nursery ware and children’s tea sets and a faerie tale set from the 1930s Shell China Company faerie tale tea set that I have built up from various sellers over time.
Handmade at Merrythought in England from warm-gold tousled mohair plush, Edgar is a cheerful companion who has terracotta pure cotton velvet paws, and wears a delightful floral cotton bow tie. He is number 2 of a limited worldwide edition of 200.
Benjamin is made by Merrythought in England too. A friendly character, he has been handmade from soft, caramel-coloured mohair plush featuring a chocolate-coloured base that beautifully complements his pure wool felt paws. He wears a traditional, satin-lined waistcoat made from the finest British tweed and secured with brass studs. He is number 110 of a limited worldwide edition of 150.

The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. Having been given permission back out onto the main, the engineer on the "Rosario Local" throttles up his two SD40s while the brakeman waits to re-line the derail once the short train is clear. They've just finished switching Nustar Asphalt, which can be seen in the far right of this shot. This track is part of the pre-1966 AT&SF alignment, which generally followed the Rio Galisteo from near its confluence with the Rio Grande towards Lamy.
This was the culmination of a one year long desire and about a four hour wait. I had seen this shot in my head ever since beginning my time qualifying out of Albuquerque, but it was either "they don't run up here anymore" or (once regular, predictable service resumed) I was always working when this job was working. Everything fell together today though, and it was worth waiting for!

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. Given the high altitude of Ben MacDui we shouldn't have been surprised to come across snow, but we were. The big question of course is "how did it taste?" .. the answer.. cold!!. Looking across the Lharig Ghru, we can see the summits of Cairn Toul and Sgor an Lochain Uaine.
Ben Macdui is the UK's 2nd highest peak (second only to Ben Nevis) and stands at 1309m (4294ft). After descending from this Munro we make a climb to the 2nd Munro of the day, Carn a' Mhaim (pronounced Carn-ah-Vame) at 1037m (3402ft).
Given that our Autumn was very warm and sunny I had an opportunity to ride down to Scarborough. I found this perspective to view one of the Surf lifesaving watch towers. It is an astonishgly beautiful structure and from this vantage point is reminds me of Jeffrey Smart's paintings. I used my personal "film" settings based on Fujifilms chrome settings. I have a few more shots that are subtly different. Just a beautiful minimalist view with bright colours.
Given normal circumstances, this one would never have been considered for submission.
The fact that Beinn a' Chrùlaiste (hill on the right) unavoidably appears much larger than Stob Dearg is just something that bothered me - & never did relent with time. It's also inescapably clichéd: an image of perhaps one the grandest views that's easily reached from a road - & therefore 'common as muck' ;-)
With my hopes & dreams for this winter in tatters, I feel it's maybe better just to allow a few flawed past efforts an airing, rather than offer nothing at all.
