The last photo posted ("You can leave your hat on!" 😂) had given me a serious headache, as I couldn't quite explain this photographically caught whim of nature with which this "Kapotthötche" (Rhenish for a crooked, somewhat ridiculous-looking hat) had remained on the blossom.

I had also never in my life been able to observe this process of blossoming evolution.

So now I went pregnant with my thoughts for almost two weeks - until today.

In the afternoon I finally found a Dandelion flower that answered my agonising questions: So that's how she does it, Mother Nature!

It's nice that I can present the photo right next to the one I mentioned and even nicer that at the same time the most inconspicuous of all my many "Nifty-Fifties", which just arrived today, was allowed to prove itself in use, a Staeble-Kata 45mm ƒ/2.8 😋

All is well with my world again 😎

Noteworthy Characteristics

Leucanthemum × superbum, commonly called Shasta daisy, is a hybrid developed by Luther Burbank (1849-1926) in the 1890s near snow covered Mt. Shasta in northern California. Burbank crossed L. vulgare (European oxeye daisy), L. maximum (Pyrenees chrysanthemum), L. lacustre (Portuguese field daisy) and Nipponanthemum nipponicum (Japanese field daisy) to produce Leucanthemum × superbum which was given the common name of Shasta daisy. This hybrid typically grows to 2-3' tall with a spread to 18" wide.

I should have called this shot 'breached' given half of the north sea came over the top of my boots and filled my wellies.

"Every chip from every cup

Every promise given up

Every reason that's not enough

Is falling, falling at your feet

Every one who needs a friend

Every life that has no end

Every knee not ready to bend

Is falling, falling at your feet

Have come crawling, falling at your feet

All fall down, all fall down, all fall down,

All fall down, all fall down, all fall down, all fall down, all fall down..."

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined...

... For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

(Isaiah 9:2,6)

I had almost given up on getting one of these late-flying darners perched this year - when this guy just appeared and landed ahead of us, camouflaged in dappled light! We were almost to our car. We had taken a long walk along the river where we saw one flying recently, with no luck. He not only appeared but patiently let me approach him ever-closer and move to get lateral shots as clouds cleared.

Only 2 dragonflies fly this late & both are northern species that range into Canada and peter out with us. We have to drive a bit closer to the mountains to get Autumn meadowhawks, which have wrapped up early this year. Shadow darners are here locally but very scarce. Unless a late meadowhawk shows up - this guy will be my last ode of the year & the end of a very tough season.

Happy Dragonfly Wednesday!

Given that the temperature has plummeted to -28C/-19F, I figured a bright flower was in order. Happy Wednesday!

Given enough tea I could rule the world. Just not sure I'd want the responsibility.

Another full week and weekend where I have given myself no time to set up the kinds of shots that I like to take so once again, as the sun was setting on Sunday I raced out to snap a couple of shots to keep the 52 weeks sequence going. I am posting this past my bedtime so will have to play catch-up with you all on Monday.

Given Covid, no fireworks are allowed here in Holland. I looked for a "natural" replacement and found this picture I made about a month ago. The wet trees are nicely contrasting to the colorful leaves and if you close your eyes you may see some fireworks ;-)

Hope you have a wonderful year end and thank you so much for all your kind comments and favs this year. I have also enjoyed your pictures a lot and found so much inspiration looking at all of them, so thank you for sharing!

O my soul, now have I given thee all, and even my last possession, and all my hands have become empty by thee:—that I bade thee sing, behold, that was my last thing to give!

That I bade thee sing,—say now, say: which of us now—oweth thanks?—Better still, however: sing unto me, sing, O my soul! And let me thank thee!

Part 3 of 3 of my Ancient Egypt series.

The title is known to be given during the Old Kingdom of Egypt, and was at that point very powerful and prestigious. The mummies of the priestesses testify that they were decorated with a religious tattoo, covering the stomach around the area of the uterus. After the Middle Kingdom of Egypt, the title was often irregularly awarded the women of the royal family, typically princesses.

The rise, fall & extinction of the priestesses of Hathor are seen in ancient Egyptian culture. The women who wanted to become socially powerful usually took refuge in religion & took the charge of priesthood.

Ancient Egyptian society took women's empowerment much more loosely than ancient Greece & ancient Rome. There women were given the right to their own property. However, after becoming a priestess, a woman is seen not only as an important figure in ancient Egyptian society, but also a living symbol of divinity.

The priestesses of Hathor were called hm ntr hthr & they were one of the most respected people in Egypt. But After the Middle Kingdom of Egypt, the title was often irregularly awarded only to the women of the royal family, typically princesses. This includes the daughter of Ramesses II. At one time their names were completely erased from history.

Egyptologysts have shown that in early days only women of aristocratic lineage could be appointed to the priesthood of Hathor. They were called Badak-Purohit or God's Consort (Hmt nTr). They performed dances and songs during the sacred rites. Because of their menstruation and ability to give child-birth, they were considered unholy, which is why they could not perform sacred duties like dressing up the sacred image of deity.

It's not like I chose this

I was not given a choice

In a room full of stories

Mine is just another voice

How does she do it?

Without making any sound?

I cry after hours

And scream when no one is around

Here comes a battle

Here's another uphill climb

So strap on some courage

You should be well prepared this time

Just because I'm still standing

Just because I have survived

Doesn't mean I don't get scared

Or wanna give up every time

Cause I don't feel like being strong today

I wanna fall apart sometimes

I wanna break

Next time they ask I'll tell the truth and I'll say

That I'm not ok

That I'm not ok

I don't feel like carrying all this weight

Or being broken around those who can't relate

Next time they ask I'll tell the truth and I'll say

That I'm not ok

That I'm not...

God gives his toughest

Battles to his strongest ones

Built out of courage

In the image of his only son

And I am a soldier

I can take the whole world on

So watch as I fight this

And give your praise once I have won..................

----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!

12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)

16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)

1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)

7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)

1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Happy Sliders Sunday!

I was given this Gloriosa Rothschildiana by a friend, to photograph.

Also known as Climbing Lily and Flame Lily, the Gloriosa Rothschildiana is probably best known as the Glory Lily.

This aptly named flower is strange and exotic looking, boasting 4-5 inch blooms with wavy-edged petals that face downwards in bud, but grow to reflex backwards, as though blown back by a strong wind.

Ruby red petals with yellow bases and edges look as though these flowers are on fire.

The bright green stamens and pistil are extremely prominent, with trailing sturdy stems and lush green leaves tipped with tendrils to aid in climbing.

As a native of South Africa, the Glory Lily grows fast-growing vines and can climb up to 8ft on a fence or trellis in warm weather.

Wishing you a beautiful day and as always, thanks for visiting, Magda (*_*)

Given the Beauty of this Flower and its Visitor, clearly the Devil lost! The ancient story goes that the vernacular name of Succisella inflexa, Southern Devil's Bit (Morsus diaboli), goes back on the enmity between the Devil and Beneficial Nature. Our Scabious once in the dawn of humanity was a Heal-All, much to the dismay of the Devil who sought only anguish for humankind. Out of pure spite he bit off the main part of Scabious's root - regard its shallow rooting today - hoping the plant would die. Hence 'Devil's Bit'. Of course, Succisella didn't die but it did lose its healing powers. In compensation it remained attractive and beautiful, full of Plenty for myriad insects among which Butterflies and also this marvelous Hoverfly.

Belted Flyer. Volucella zonaria, by the standard of Hoverfly sizes, is very large; it measures about 2.5 cm (=almost an inch) compared to the 2-3 mm (.09 inch) of the smallest ones. And Zonaria's color is striking as well, very orange-yellow, mimicking a Hornet. So often it's called the Hornet Hoverfly. Entirely harmless, though; not a devil at all in her!

Given a colour change treatment.

These gorgeous handmade ornaments were given me by a generous, grand and artistic friend! Though there are 4 photos, two of them are a view of the same ornament. These three glorious creations are on the Christmas tree at Riversong, our Alabama home on the Elk River. The other three are on the Christmas tree at Lagniappe, our home in New Orleans! I couldn't not bear to leave all in New Orleans, and I expect the other three will be coming back here to reside on the big tree for the rest of the holidays! But OH! How we are enjoying them on each tree! Such sparkle to catch the eye, and remind us of those we love!
