The incredible Buachaille Etive Mor in the Scottish Highlands. This photogenic peak sits where Glen Coe, Glen Etive and Rannoch Moor meet. It is awe inspiring country right out of Tolkien. It was also my destination for my very first night in country. After flying overnight from the states and landing in Manchester, I picked up a rental car and drove north. Late in the day I made it here to Buchaille Etive Mor. What an introduction. I was so impressed with the area I also made it my last stop in country.

This was taken on my last morning there. The first snow of the season had left a slight dusting on the peaks and the rains of the prior two weeks (every day) made the waterfalls flow. What an end to a great two weeks.

I spent Easter sunday with some family on Coronado Island in San Diego, CA and we walked to the beach to watch the sunset. The clouds were rolling in as a rain storm approached and it made for quite a dramatic image. The sunset looked promising but the clouds did not light up with color as we hoped. I used a Schneider 50mm tilt shift lens and shifted left then right for the 2 image pano. I tilted about 2 degrees to get the waves as well as the ship sailing past the island in the background all in focus. It was a fun Easter and suprising to see a storm come in after the beautiful day here in San DIego.

Fiery Sunrise over the Island of Raasay from the Isle of Skye by melvin nicholson

My final morning on Skye last Saturday culminated in a spectacular fiery sunrise that took place directly over the Island of Raasay. After a week of rain, it was magical to witness the sky looking like fire. I was in my element.

Not long after I left Skye for the rather dryer and snow covered peaks of Glencoe in preparation for my four day workshop which starts this Thursday. Skye for all of its challenges, still offers the most amazing chances to capture on camera something extraordinary and just a fleeting moment of light on a stormy day is all that I need to be content. Moments. It's what we strive to photograph. Enjoy it. Embrace it. Live it.

Summer Night on the Paluxy River by Darren Huski

A hot and muggy summer night on the Paluxy River in Texas. Summers in Texas are hot, green, clear sky and tough on landscape photography. Best option- go nocturnal and photograph the stars. Here I was set up on rocky ledges on a small river trying to avoid the skeeters. The warm night really pushes the Sony A7R3 and I find it very noisy as a camera in warm weather. Noticeable difference from cold weather.

I was using the iOptron Sky Guider Pro star tracker and combining a pair of shots in post to blend sky and ground. Shots were back to back so I do a ground exposure with the tracker off and then a sky exposure with the tracker on.

Sony A7R3 and Loxia 21mm lens on a iOptron Skyguider Pro all on a Gitzo 3 series tripod.
