Traditionally, sugar skulls are created as ornamental gifts for children and family members during Día de los Muertos. Unlike the ghoulish skulls and skeletons associated with Halloween, these brightly colored skulls represent the departed souls in the circle of life -
The Day of the Dead is a holiday traditionally celebrated on November 1 and 2, though other days, such as October 31 or November 6, may be included depending on the locality. The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pay respects and to remember friends and family members who have died
Just practicing using the tools in GIMP.. For example, if I want to move a layer, I generally have to turn off the eyes in all the other layers. Sort of like Illustrator.
My friend Martie posted her sepia version of this, and like the loudmouth I am, I made comments. I thought a darker sepia with more contrast, then the selective coloring of the vine, would tell a story.
I think I like hers better. It was a good experiment though.
