This is an experiment with combining exposures from my telescope with ones from a zoom camera lens at 191mm, cropped to this.
The telescope's nominal focal length is 1500mm, but I think that is for with an eyepiece and with a camera it is more like 1200mm. The 191mm lens has a smaller aperture, but its wide angle gave it a much higher sensitivity to extended emission like gas and dust (since there were more photons per pixel). The image is not quantitative since the exposures were combined using the Gimp instead of siril, and it would be challenging to show the whole nebula and not blow out the Trapezium region. I do wonder if siril supports this sort of combination, though, and if StarNet++ could have kept the stars small.
