22/01/2021 23:30 Still not working out how my camera works.... This was cropped and improved with 'The Gimp' And hell, the resolution wasn't turned to the top!
GIMP edit of 21 photos, I loaded them as layers and played with opacity. Result is this abstract photo.
Took a late night walk up to the Skatås area. Found this cut down birch in a little lake. And, I also found a new way to tweak the Mantiuk operator in Qtpfsgui to preserve details and still get that great contrast. When I shot this, it was more than semi-dark. Long exposures really smoothed out the water surface.
Composited and processed in GIMP from several photos and vector images.

The idea is... the curved tubes suck up the raw material from the nipple-type bottle in the middle, then they burn what they can and drain off the rest out the end of the tube. The silver tubes on the sides are silos that hold the liquid "stuff", but someone shot holes in them. (Hmm... maybe I should make some of it "leak" out of the holes?) The larger tube in the middle on top twirls the little tubes around at the end of the day (which is why the ends of the larger tubes are situated that way. The "sun" in the middle is what the flames are recharging. And, the bubbles are just for fun. So, you see, it's a large solar furnace operating just outside the view of the inhabitants of the planet the sun is heating.

What is the Threshold Tool in GIMP?
It reduces the image to two colors using a threshold.
So many tools, so little time!

as a photographer it is hard to tell what own photo is good or bad because you are always a bit influenced by the memory of the shooting.
If you have laughed a lot or if it was "easy going", you might prefer those pictures and not be neutral.
This is - all those thoughts nonwithstanding - one of my better portraits. It's in the Top-5.
