I was in the middle of taking this 2 minute exposure when a surfer walked out to the edge of the water and just stood still for the rest of the exposure. It turned into a rather cool result as you can see him in the photo but it looks like you are seeing through him as if he were a ghost.
Shooting a lot at night in deserted places I sometimes feel the presence of the activity present during busier times. I undertook a series to try to capture that feeling. I took shots of busy places at night when they were quiet then came back & took multiple shots from exactly the same spot when they were busy. Figures from those daytime shots have been added (at less than full transparency) to the night base shot. This image is the result of combining elements of daytime shots with the base night shot.
Are we building homes for families or just throwing up shells for empty men? Remember, not only old houses are haunted and not all hauntings require ghosts.
A portrait of my Ghost Mantis nymph. These guys are native to Africa but this one was captive bred and photographed in Maryland. It's body is probable about 2 to 3mm long.

Not all of the towns in this region of Italy are so pretty. Consider Craco, a ghost town. It was finally abandoned after the 1980 Irpinia earthquake, but it had long been declining, starting with a series of landslides that were provoked by poor engineering of infrastructure, sewer and water systems. In 1972 a flood worsened the situation, preventing a possible repopulation of the historic center.

It's almost 10pm and a deserted Exeter Central sees the arrival of a pair of DMUs with Pacer 143618 leading.
The train is in fact an empty stock repositioning move from platform 3 running under the headcode 5E57. It will shortly depart from this platform (2) as the 9.55pm to Exeter St Davids (2E57). The unit on the back is Sprinter 150265.
I selected this frame from the sequence because of the way the driver was highlighted while the front-end remained largely in shadow.
I've switched commenting off for this one.

1921 Union Pacific ALCo 2-8-2 Mikado locomotive acquired by the museum in 1996. I've added the oil paint and poster edges filters at different opacities to separate layers and stacked them on top of a monochrome treatment of the color HDR photo.
Ghost brides wear black b/c wearing white would be like, you know, why bother.

Shot at 181 Thompson Street in Greenwich Village between Bleecker and Houston in New York City. The "Ghost" is the signage from Rocco's Restaurant that was never covered over. They say the food here is exceptional and that reservations are difficult to come by.

The late afternoon light shines on the gracefully eroded Kitchen Butte above Ghost Ranch, a cultural and scientific retreat center in northern New Mexico. The American artist Georgia O'Keefe was profoundly inspired by the landscape here, and purchased a house nearby that she used as her summer home for 40 years.
