This is Patrick the Ghost Mantis nymph.
A captive bred Ghost Mantis nymph which is native to Africa.
The " ghost village " of la Roche de Rame, Hautes-Alpes, France. The village is deserted , many shops had vanished, the road wich passes thru the village had destroyed the heart of life. People asked for years a New road to circumvent the village , in vain to this Day..
The ornate ghost pipefish or harlequin ghost pipefish, Solenostomus paradoxus, is a false pipefish of the family Solenostomidae. The species name comes from the Greek paradoxos, referring to this fish's unusual external features. Ornate ghost pipefish are found in the Western Pacific and the Indian Ocean along reef edges prone to strong currents from the Red Sea to Tonga.They reach a maximum length of 12 cm. They vary in color from red or yellow to black and are almost transparent. Although relatively common, ornate ghost pipefish are very well-camouflaged and difficult to find. It occurs either as solitary individuals or in pairs, among the branches of gorgonians, in floating weeds, or crinoids where the feed on mysids and small benthic shrimp. Ghost crabs are semiterrestrial crabs of the subfamily Ocypodinae. They are common in tropical and subtropical regions throughout the world.
I was in the middle of taking this 2 minute exposure when a surfer walked out to the edge of the water and just stood still for the rest of the exposure. It turned into a rather cool result as you can see him in the photo but it looks like you are seeing through him as if he were a ghost.

Shooting a lot at night in deserted places I sometimes feel the presence of the activity present during busier times. I undertook a series to try to capture that feeling. I took shots of busy places at night when they were quiet then came back & took multiple shots from exactly the same spot when they were busy. Figures from those daytime shots have been added (at less than full transparency) to the night base shot. This image is the result of combining elements of daytime shots with the base night shot.
A survey ship in a slightly foggy St Katherine docks, which is usually filled with luxury yachts, so this boat looked out of place. Or maybe it was never really there??
A portrait of my Ghost Mantis nymph. These guys are native to Africa but this one was captive bred and photographed in Maryland. It's body is probable about 2 to 3mm long.
