When we were staying in Ludham, Norfolk, we took the paddlesteamer from Horning along the River Bure. It was a lovely trip with beautiful scenery and lots of lovely homes (I hate to imagine what they would cost). Most of them had boat garages where they could just cruise along the river and put the boat in safely on their return.
Sorry for so many photos, but it was hard to choose out of the hundred or so that I took LOL.
We spotted this rhino when we had an early start in Kruger. We were on our way to meet up with Piet (www.flickr.com/photos/oom_piet/). Of course it was on the wrong side of the road and the light was in the wrong spot, but I am so excited to see one up so close.

I have been playing around with PhotoMania on facebood and found this effect in the Artistic section. I really like it, I must say. I am not sure what the little antelope is, maybe Piet might be able to tell me. The zebra also has brown tinged stripes - is it a Burchell zebra?
The week that we stayed in Bewdley, Worcestershire, was the Bewdley Festival week. The day we wandered around the town the Morris dancers were in full swing.
These are some photos that I took a while back (when there were flowers and bees around). The cold weather means the gardens are bare at the moment - supposed to get down to 1 Celsius tonight.
I have decided to join Nina on her challenge to take a flower photo a day for 365 days.

Flickr has been my saviour since the operation as I haven't been able to pick up the camera, but it is also a wonderful medium for keeping up with friends. I discovered a cousin of mine (Judith511) here on Flickr who I haven't seen for many years - isn't it amazing??

These Gazanias are growing in my garden at the moment. I found that I could take some photos with my Olympus E-PM1 camera as it is much lighter than the DSLR
One of our day trips from Bewdley in Worcestershire was a visit to Llangollen in Wales. What an interesting place!! We stopped for lunch in a cafe overlooking the River Dee where we watched the river running swiftly past as we ate our delicious food. After lunch we walked up the hill to see the horse drawn canal boats - very interesting.
When we were driving through Kruger, I saw a movement in the undergrowth and called to Peter "stop the car". On inspection I spotted this African Wild cat - apparently a infrequent sighting. To me it looks like a slightly bigger version of an ordinary house cat.

My hand is a bit sore today. I have found I have a couple of good days and then a couple of bad days to bring me down to earth LOL. I am still trying to take it easy, but it is so boring. Thanks to Brian @ Bury St Edmunds (UK) I now have an ID - "Peruvian Lily".
We spotted this zebra as we were preparing to leave Kruger. I had been saying that the zebras had been difficult to spot, but the last couple of days we saw quite a few up close.
This is the Hydrangea that is growing in my garden. It doesn't really do well and I think it might be in a part of the yard that doesn't get much sun.
Arundel, West Sussex is a beautiful place to wander around. We have been here a few times (also stayed there) and although the weather during our last visit was overcast and misty I still took some nice photos.
When we were staying in Bexhill, East Sussex, Pat (larigan here on Flickr) took me for a drive around the area and we called in at Slidon to see the Pumpkin Festival. I never realised how many different varieties of pumpkins that there are. It was a cold, wet day and we had pumpkin soup for lunch - yummy it was too.
These are some beautiful Dahlias that I saw during our visit to Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. There were so many gorgeous colours that I haven't seen before.
3 days to South Africa. I am feeling quite unsure how I will go taking photos with my hand problems, but I have decided to just enjoy myself and do what I can and not fret over it any more. The Canon 50D and the Canon 100-400 are coming with me and we will see what happens.

When we were driving through Kruger one day, we were stopped for a while with a whole herd of buffalo crossing the road in front of the cars.

Something a little different for today. We have this magpie who visits us numerous times a day for meat to feed it's young.
Today it landed on the lavender plant, so I grabbed the camera and snapped off a few photos.

This Magpie visits our garden at least three times a day as Peter gives it meat to feed it's babies. Today it arrived with a gift for Peter to thank him.

I also found this white Hebe when walking around the Mt. Tomah Botanical Gardens - now I have seen white, pink, purple and deep crimson. The bees were going crazy for the white. I am also adding an interesting letter box (mail box) that we saw.

I was surprised to find the zebra difficult to find when we first began our journey around South Africa, but after the first couple of weeks, we came across quite a few. They are my all time favourite African animal.

When we were driving around Kruger we came across this Giant Ground Hornbill - what a prehistoric looking bird.
Ilulissat Icefjord, one of the northernmost UNESCO World Heritage Sites, is a massive collection of icebergs that have calved from the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier.
Sermeq Kujalleq, aka Jakobshavn Glacier, is the fastest glacier in the northern hemisphere, moving around 40 meters per day. It drains 6.5% of the Greenland ice sheet and produces around 10% of all Greenland icebergs.

Winter has now arrived in Australia and the insects have packed their bags and headed north for the Winter. These are some of the last bees that I saw in the garden.
I have not been commenting as much on Flickr as I am still having so much trouble with my hands. I am finding it difficult to do anything, let alone pick up the camera and as it is only 6 weeks until we go to Africa, I am beginning to despair. The tests showed no Carpal Tunnel, but the doctor now wants me to go back to see the surgeon who may suggest some more cortisone injections which will hopefully relieve the pain
