Nyalla are one of the most beautiful antelopes that I have seen. We saw a few during our drives through Kruger which is unusual as they are usually hard to spot. This one walked across the road in front of our car and I had to be quick to snap off a few photos through the windscreen before it disappeared into the bushes.
I took this photo on our way back to Isandlwana Lodge after a tour of the Zulu battlefield. The guide stopped on the bridge for me to get the best view.
As we were driving out of Kruger at closing the light was always beautiful as the sun was setting. As luck would have it, we spotted this mother and calf about to walk on the road in front of the car.
We are safely home - feeling a little tired after around 24 hours with only cat naps on the plane. I will catch up with everyone in the morning.
Three weeks today and we will be waiting for the shuttle bus to take us to the airport for our next adventure. I find that I get nervous in the last couple of weeks, but once we are on our way I am fine. Now is the time we start preparing for the holiday - everything is booked, just have to make sure that we take everything that is needed with us. I did have a dream once before our trip that we were on the way to the airport and I had forgotten my camera bag. Peter said we had no time to go back for it and I was devastated. I was so pleased when I woke to find it was just a dream LOL.
We will be staying our first night in Ludlow, Shropshire and Stokesay Castle is just down the road, so I am sure I will visit again.
This is a flower that came up in the garden. Peter said it is a potato flower, but I am not sure. He did plant some potatoes in some old laundry tubs that we have in the garden, so maybe he is right. Judy has said it may be an onion - could be right as he probably planted one of them as well.
We are leaving this morning to visit my brother who lives 9 hours drive away. He normally comes down at Christmas for a visit, but is now not well enough to travel, so we are going up to see him for his birthday.
This is one of my favourite castles in the UK. Stokesay Castle is near Craven Arms, Ludlow in Shropshire.
We have had a lot of rain since coming home from our trip - makes me feel like we are back in the UK (except for the humidity) LOL.
We came around the bend and were confronted by three giraffe walking down the road. You can see why they recommend travelling at 25 kph on Kruger roads.
I talked Peter into trying out this unique ride when we were in Durban, South Africa. He only sat for a photo which was quite expensive (a tourist trap), so I hate to think what it would have cost to go up and down the footpath. He got a fright when the man picked up the carriage as he said it felt like it was going to tip over, so I am glad I resisted the request to sit in it LOL.
This is my favourite castle - I can never resist a visit there when we are in Scotland. This trip we stayed in Dornie and I was able to walk to the castle from the B&B, so I was in photo heaven.
I was looking for a photo the other night and came across this one that I took at Featherdale Animal Park back in 2010. This is such an interesting looking bird and I will have to try and find an ID. I googled and there is a bird called a Green Catbird which looks similar. I listened to the call of the cat bird on Youtube and it does sound like a cat - hence the name.
Yesterday Peter wanted to visit the Cameron Museum at Achnacarry. On the way I made him stop ( I mean I asked him to stop LOL) for a photo of this beautiful view.
I have decided to join Nina on her challenge to take a flower photo a day for 365 days.

I have been to see the surgeon today. Everything is going well and I don't have to see him for 5 weeks.
Another photo from our trip to Mt. Wilson on Monday. This is the driveway leading into Breenhold Gardens. Sadly we didn't have time to go into the gardens, but I can imagine that it is a magical place.
When we were driving around Kruger, we chatted to another tourist and he told us that he had spotted two Cheetahs on the side of a dirt track about 10 minutes beforehand. He gave us directions, but we didn't expect to see them, but when we arrived they were still there. They were stalking some Kudu cows that were up ahead. One would walk while one sat and watched and then they would reverse the role.

When we stayed in Cornwall we called in to Mevagissey and walked down to the harbour. I spotted this garden sculpture in a small shop. I was tempted to buy it, but it was too heavy to bring home.
When we were sitting at a lookout in Addo Elephant Park, I spotted this beautiful bird in the tree. It was deep in the foliage, but eventually came out long enough for a couple of photos before flying away.
Peter spoke to his Dad this morning and he is still confined to bed, but sounding much brighter.
Another of my favourite cattle. We spotted these as we were driving around Scotland, but I have also seen them here in Australia.
We are headed back up north to finish cleaning out my brother's unit and put it up for sale. I am so sad that he didn't manage to spend more time in it before he passed away.
During our stay in LLangollen, Wales, I took this photo from the bridge. It was only after I uploaded the photo that I noticed the man fishing.
Beautiful Wood Ducks Ducks that we saw at the Bentley Wildfowl and Car Museum. We are staying in a chalet overlooking the water in West Bay in Dorset, but we have no internet - I will catch up when I can.
Thanks Graham for the ID.
We are on the downhill run now - less than two weeks to go and we will be on our way home. Time has gone by fast.
I may not have been posting earlier on in the year when I was going through my Greta Garbo routine, but I was still taking photos.
Here on the North Coast of Northern Ireland, we tend to get the tail end of major storms that hit the Eastern Seaboard in the States.
I knew that if I didn't make the effort and go chase the waves of this particular February storm I would regret it.
I always like going to the breakwater in storms because there are lots of rocks, its deep and it can be a tad hairy because waves come sloshing over the breakwater on both sides because this is also the entrance to the River Bann.
Within minutes of me taking this, the weather changed dramatically (photo in the comments area) and I was out of there because even for me the conditions had become too dangerous.
I thought it was a nice contrast to my last photo of calm, sleepy Church Bay!!
EXPLORED NO.144
Back to my holiday photos now. I have been trying to process some for a 100 page photo book I ordered whilst I was on holidays. It was a pay now and get three months to complete and it has to be completed by the 12th January. It has been quite a chore to choose around 900 photos out of over 5,000 LOL.
We stayed a week in Thornton-le-Dale with our good friends Judy and Mervyn. Judy and I walked down to the village one day and spotted this lovely view as we were walking over the little bridge.
I have decided to join Nina on her challenge to add a flower photo a day for 365 days.

I visited the Sydney Botanical Gardens today with my daughter and found these beautiful Poppies flowering.
Whilst my northern hemisphere friends are in the midst of Winter, it is a hot and STEAMY Summer here. I can handle the heat, but not the humidity. I took this photo on a day trip to Flamborough Heads. They caught my eye at a little souvenir shop - I hope it adds some warmth to your cold days ahead.
My first in flight shot of the season. Taken in my garden, it is the first time I have seen one flying around the Grevillea.
We have arrived in the UK after a long flight. We spent our first night in Ludlow, Shropshire which is not far from Stokesay Castle, which was our first port of call - I love this castle.
We are now in Pooley Bridge in the Lake District where we will be staying nights.
Yesterday we called in to see The Kelpies at Falkirk. They are amazing and you can see the scale of them by the people at the base.
The Kelpies are 30-metre high horse-head sculptures, standing next to a new extension to the Forth and Clyde Canal, and near River Carron, in The Helix, a new parkland project built to connect 16 communities in the Falkirk Council Area, Scotland. The sculptures were designed by sculptor Andy Scott and were completed in October 2013. The sculptures form a gateway at the eastern entrance to the Forth and Clyde canal, and the new canal extension built as part of The Helix land transformation project. The Kelpies are a monument to horse powered heritage across Scotland.
The sculptures opened to the public in April 2014. As part of the project, they will have their own visitor centre, and sit beside a newly developed canal turning pool and extension. This canal extension reconnects the Forth and Clyde Canal with the River Forth, and improves navigation between the East and West of Scotland.
We were driving towards Nairn in Scotland and we came around a bend and I saw these beautiful reflections in the water. I was disappointed to see a fence spoiling my view, but then I noticed that if I walked onto the bridge, there was no fence.

I was busy yesterday and completely forgot to add my photo yesterday. I spotted this flower in another neighbour's garden and have no idea what it is called, but it is very pretty.
I found out the name - it is Bleeding Heart Glorybower (Clerodenrum).
This is my photo for the 52 in 2016 challenge - #43 - sky. I went to our local park yesterday evening with my granddaughter and saw that there was a "blue moon" in the sky.
Playing around with some SkeletalMess textures and PicMonkey. I would love to learn how to do textures properly, but I am having fun with PicMonkey for now.
After our couple of sunny days, we have had more storms and rain. Today is threatening more rain and cold - a good day to stay rugged up inside.
I am home from hosptial. I am not sure what is happening as my legs (it also appeared on my right leg) are still red and irritated. I had a course of strong IV antibiotics which they say should have stopped the infection, but I may now have developed Eczema on top of the Cellulitis. I will just have to stay off my feet and wait to see if it settles down after a while. Now I know what a pincushion feels like LOL.
This is a blue Dahlia that was in a beautiful bouquet of flowers that I received while I was in hospital.
This is my photo for the challenge - 52 in 2015, #5 Vegetables. Most nights I have salad with my meals, but Peter has vegetables. He does the cooking (aren't I lucky), and when he is getting his vegies ready, he brings me in some to eat - I love raw carrots and beans.
I was so excited to have a few sightings of these beautiful birds whilst we were driving around Kruger. Quite a few stayed long enough for photos which was amazing as they normally fly off when a car stops close to them.
This is my photo for the 52 in 2015 Challenge - #20 Diagonal.
This is a cup that I brought back from South Africa as a souvenir - I love all the bright beading.
This is a view of Stalker Castle from the other side of the Loch. The mist was rolling in at a fast rate.
After two more sleeps we will be flying home. We have had a wonderful trip, but after 9 weeks away from home, it will be good to see everyone again.
We are staying in Beckenham and Peter is going into London tomorrow. I have strained a muscle in my hip somehow, so I will stay here and play on the internet.
During our trip we spent a lovely week with Judy and Mervyn in North Yorkshire and also spent a night with them at their home in Lincolnshire. I mentioned that I had never seen an hedgehog and Merv said that his dog Kizzy was an expert of finding them in the garden. We walked into the garden and sure enough Kizzy spotted one having a drink out of a tray in the garden - it was so cute!!! Just before we came home, Judy sent me this lovely present that her cousin had made for me. I love them and had to fight with my granddaughters as they wanted to take them home LOL.
This is my photo for the group 52 in 2014 - #2, Winter. This is a tree in my neighbour's garden and there are still a few Autumn leaves clinging to the branches, even though we are almost three weeks into Winter.
We called in to a little village called Hutton Le Hole in North Yorkshire just as the sun was getting low. The reflections were beautiful over the pond and then a few ducks flew in.
We have been without internet for the week, but at least I managed to do some of my patchwork and spend some quality time with Merv and Judy. We had a lovely week with them and it was so sad to say goodbye again today.
