It has been a bit too cold here for photos and there is not much in the gardens anyway, so I have been looking through the archives. Here is one of a Poppy in my garden taken back in October last year.

A lone bee coming in to land on my white lavender bush. The bee is not as sharp as I would like, but it was very windy at the time which is not good for macro shots.

I was beginning to think that I may not see any Autumn colour before we had to come home, but during our last week, we visited Goodrich Castle in Herefordshire and was happy to see some colour in the surrounding countryside.

This is another view of Eilean Donan Castle taken in the morning with my Canon 7D and Canon 24-105 lens.

I have seen Whitby Abbey from a distance before and by peering over the fence, but this trip we used out English Heritage cards to go inside to wander around and take in the full beauty. I was not disappointed.

Taken in Pilanesberg Game Park on a beautiful sunny day. I think that the Hornbill is my favourite of the African birds.

We stayed at Dornie in Scotland last night, which is in walking distance to Eilean Donan Castle. We were sitting in the hotel having a drink when I noticed the light changing. I quickly grabbed my camera and walked along the path to the castle. I was lucky enough to get a couple of shots before the light changed. I should have left a few minutes earlier.

We called in to a little village called Hutton Le Hole in North Yorkshire just as the sun was getting low. The reflections were beautiful over the pond and then a few ducks flew in.

7 weeks today we will be in the air on our way to the UK. We will be spending just over two weeks in Scotland and will be staying overnight at Dornie, which is in walking distrance to my favourite castle, Eilean Donan. I am sure I will be spending a lot of time taking photos - normally we just have a quick stop to take in this beautiful view.

Some of the beautiful Autumn colours that I saw during our travels. The colours were just beginning to change and it would have been nice if we could have had another couple of weeks to see the full beauty, but unfortunately our trip was at an end.

We are into Winter and the bees have gone until the weather warms up. My lavender is groing so well at the moment too.

The weather in Sydney is much colder that what we experienced on the far North Coast, but then their Summer is much hotter, so I am not complaining (well maybe just a little LOL).

This Matchstick Bromeliad is growing in my garden at the moment. I love the bright colours. See a photo of the flower in the first comment box.

Another huge giraffe that we saw when driving around Pilanesberg. When you see them in zoos, you think that they are big, but when I saw them in the wild, I was amazed at how big they really are. I would be lucky to reach the top of one leg.

As we were leaving Fowey in Cornwall, the sun seemed to be peeping from under the clouds.

Peter called me out the other day to tell me that there was something he wanted to show me. When I followed him into the garden, this is what I saw.

Some more beautiful scenery taken during our travels around Scotland.

The cooler weather has been here for a few days and the bees have been few and far between. When I have spotted them they are buzzing around madly trying to gather pollen before Winter arrives.

#244 on Explore on 7th June, 2012.

Spotted this Kudu male out of the corner of my eye when I noticed some movement in the bushes. Taken in Kruger National Park.

Out and about today, I spotted this Hover Fly hovering about. The flowers are just starting to bloom but still only small and not many around so the Hover Fly didn't stay around long for photos. We leave next week for our trip and hopefully there will still be some Bumble Bees around the UK for me to photograph - I love them.

Another beautiful duck that we saw at the Bentley Waterfowl and Car Museum in East Sussex.

The good thing about the periods of rain and the short bursts of sunshine is that we have seen lots of beautiful rainbows.

When we stayed in West Bay in Dorset, we did many drives around the surrounding area. One of the little villages we visited was Branscombe. We had to travel along very narrow lanes to reach some of the villages - something Peter was over by the time our trip finished. It was scary being a passenger, let alone the driver.

A beautiful, peaceful scene we spotted not far out of Fort William in Scotland. The water was so still and crystal clear.

A view from up high overlooking Ullswater Lake.

I was taking some photos of one of my new flowers in my wheelbarrow garden and it was only a matter of seconds between the two photos after a strong breeze blew up.

We went for a drive down a very narrow country road to Martinvale with beautiful views over Ullswater Lake from the top of the hill. It was very ticky to pass other vehicles, especially a fairly large van coming the other way. I don't think Peter will be able to be convinced to go there again "just" for a few photos.

I think this is the correct ID - found a site on the internet with waterfowl IDs. Seen a the Bentley Waterfowl and Car Museum in East Sussex.

Zebras are my favourite African animal and I am always excited to see them roaming free in the game parks. This one was in Kruger.

We passed this steamroller on the road one day, so I made (I mean asked) Peter to stop further along the road so I could try and get some photos.

I met up with a Flickr friend, Tom. the other day and he took me to one of his favourite places, The Seven Sisters. I had a wonderful day Tom and it was lovely to meet you.

There is no internet in the place we are staying in West Bay and internet is a little slow at the cafe, but I am checking out your photos when I can.

In four weeks time we will be in the air on our way to France to begin our new adventure. We will be doing an 8 day bus tour of France, flying to London, hiring a car and driving around the UK taking in the wonderful sights of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

I didn't actually take this photo. I have walked down to Durdle Door once before and the walk down is very steep, but the walk back is rather hard. I decided that I wasn't going to do it this trip, but Peter said if I set the camera up, he would do them for me, but not to whinge if they didn't turn out. Normally he doesn't have any idea, but I am really pleased at how they turned out. When he walked back up the hill he said he didn't think he would make it back up, especially carry the "cannon" as he calls it LOL. He did look hot and bothered and that made me feel better as I thought I was being a sook by not doing it myself.

Some more Autumn colour taken from Goodrich Castle, Heredfordshire during our recent trip to the UK.

This is my photo for the 52 in 2015 challenge - #33 - Something soft. I have had this idea for quite a while but had problems finding the right marshmallows. I finally found some on line and had to buy in bulk. Luckily we have a couple of birthday parties coming up LOL.

I have added an action to the photo as the original was a little "ho hum". I hope you like it.

This is for Alan (Alofbrid) who lives near these wonderful chalk cliffs. Sadly we could not meet up again as he was visiting his daughter in Canada.

When we were driving around Kruger we saw many female Kudu, but on this day we spotted this beautiful male standing in the bushes.

Someone told us that they had seen Cheetah on one of the dirt roads in Kruger. We drove there not expecting them to still be there, but they were - amazing to see. Two cheetah were wandering along the side of the road in the bushes and it looked like they were hunting. One would walk a bit and then sit down, then the other would do the same. It was getting late in the afternoon, so we didn't have time to see what they would do sadly.

This is one taken from the car as we were speeding past on the motorways of Scotland - isn't it an amazing house??

We leave our cottage in Pakefield tomorrow morning and will spend the night in Chesterfield before going to our second cottage in Thornton le Dale in North Yorkshire. We are meeting up with some friends Merv and Judy) who are going to spend some time with us.

Our trip is speeding along now - 5 weeks tomorrow and 3 more weeks to go.

We came around the bend and were confronted by three giraffe walking down the road. You can see why they recommend travelling at 25 kph on Kruger roads.

I have decided to join Nina on her challenge to take a flower photo a day for 365 days.

Some more photos of my son's nightly visitors to his back patio. I couldn't get enough photos of these cute little frogs.

We have arrived in Lostwithiel, Cornwall - a quaint little village - narrow roads and not much parking. Peter will be pleased when he doesn't have to drive along such narrow roads any more - some of them are a bit scary, especially when you meet a big tractor coming the other way on a road only wide enough for one car. We only have 6 days until we fly home.

Closeup of one of my cosmos flowers - isn't it beautiful??
