This was our closest sighting of a lion. We were driving out of Pilanesberg at closing when we saw a few cars on the side of the road. It was getting dark, so it was difficult to get photos and the lion had it's back to me. I managed to snap off one just as he turned his head a little.

I think this is a little wild Violet that is growing in my neighbour's garden.

This is one of the two Cheetah that we saw hunting when we were driving around Kruger. One would sit while the other one walked slowly ahead and then it would sit, while the other walked forward. Unfortunately we couldn't wait to see if they caught anything as it was getting late and we had to make the gate before they closed them for the day.

This is Princess Kitty - Amanda's kitty cat. She has the most amazing eyes. We stayed with Amanda and Shane for two nights and it was wonderful to see them again.

I love these hairy Highland coos and to see a black one was even more special.

We left my brother's place this morning and have now arrived in Hervey Bay after a five hour journey.

This is my photo for the group 52 in 2014 - #6 Feline. I don't have any pets to practice on so I thought I would add a photo of one of my new creations.

This Jonquil is growing in my garden and is waterlogged from the rain. We are supposed to have torrential rain for the next few days and although not as cold as some of my contacts, the temperature is only supposed to reach 13C tomorrow during the day.

When we were driving around Kruger, we came across a man peering into the bushes taking photographs. We looked but couldn't see anything. When we asked, he pointed to this little head peering out from the long grass. We turned the car around so I could get a better shot through my window and as we came back to the spot, I spotted this other Hyena laying on the grass on the other side of the road. The other man had already left, so he missed out on that sighting. It shows how luck plays a big part when you drive around the game parks. Other photos added in first comment box.

Whilst we were staying with Judy and Mervyn in South Kyme, they took us for a drive to Wells-next-the-Sea for lunch. We walked along the beach before heading back home through more wonderful scenery.

I was waiting for this clouds to be here since a year. I guess few days remained in this Beautiful city.

I did several experiments in post processing with different angles of the lake. ll upload the rests soon.

This is a Matchstick Bromeliad that grows in my neighbour's garden. Sadly Norm died when we were in South Africa and I suppose his house will be sold at some time in the future.

M wrist has been a little achy the last couple of days, probably due to the unseasonal cold snap that we have been experiencing, but on the whole I am happy with how it is progressing. Thank you everyone who has been asking.

We went back to Pilanesberg Game Park today and whilst we didn't see a lion or leopard in the park, this sighting was the highlight of the day.

We are working off battery on our little computer so I haven't had a chance to post comments, but I have been looking at your beautiful photos.

This was taken back in January - I haven't seen many dragonflies around this Summer.

Driving through the Scottish Highlands is an amazing experience. Sadly there is not always any place to stop for photos, so these were taken from a fast moving car.

I took this photo during a visit to Peter and Sally in Northumberland in 2011. I have no idea what the flower is, but I love the shape. Thanks for the ID Ashley - Globe thistles - Echinops.

I went for a follow up visit to the surgeon today and he said that the sharp, shooting pains that I have been experiencing are due to the plate and screws. He said that they probably need to come out and has booked me in for surgery on the 20th March - I was hoping that they would cause no problems and could stay there forever. I could have gone in next week, but Peter is booked in for his followup surgery on Friday - we are keeping the hospitals in business, aren't we? I hope that this will be the end of both our problems.

Kedar Country Lodge, Conference Centre and Spa offers visitors and conference delegates the perfect escape from the hectic pace of modern living. Situated in the North West Province of South Africa, just 21km from Sun City, Kedar is built on a portion of Boekenhoutfontein, the historic farm that once belonged to President Paul Kruger.

The land around Kedar has been game fenced and is populated with a wide variety of game, including eland, blesbok, impala, bushbuck, nyala, kudu, zebra, blue wildebeest, giraffe, sable and two endangered pygmy hippos – making it a dream destination for nature lovers!

We have stayed at this wonderful place twice now and it is only about 15 minutes drive from the entrance to Pilanesberg Game Park. If you look at the larger sizes, you can even see Peter in a couple of the photos.

I didn't realise until I uploaded the photo that I caught the bird taking off. This buffalo was in a huge herd that was walking down the road towards us. They were all around the car before moving off into the bush.

A beautiful rose from my neighbour's garden.

As you know, I love these Highland cattle and I can never resist stopping for some photos.

We are spending the night in Stranraer and in the morning we are catching the ferry to Northern Ireland. We will spend two nights in Londonderry and then two nights with our friends, Amanda and Shane.

Two of my grandchildren are celebrating birthdays this week. Master Javan will be turning 12 years old on the 24th and Miss Ella will be celebrating her 1st Birthday on the 26th. I can't believe how fast this year has flown.

My wrist/hand has been feeling much better lately, so I was able to make Ella her little birthday bear (I have made one for each of my grandchildren). After I made the first bear, I couldn't stop and had to make some more. These are some of my latest creations. They range from 8 inches to 10 inches in height.

This swan was powering towards a couple of swans on the river at St. Ives, Cambridgeshire. It was very threatening and the other swans soon swam away.

This time tomorrow we will be in the air on our way to South Africa. We are now all packed and ready to go.

We are taking a small notebook computer with us so depending on connections, I will be checking out Flickr and hopefully adding some photos.

When we were staying in Kedar Lodge in 2012 we were told to avoid this giraffe who apparently had been ousted by another male giraffe who had taken over his girlfriend. We were on a game drive when it came over to the truck and began strutting around the place with an arrogant look on his face which was rather comical to watch.

I made this the other night. It is a miniature mouse - only around 2 inches sitting. It was easy to sew, but when it came to turning the pieces inside the right way and putting in the joints - what a hassle. It is so cute, but I won't be making anything so small in future LOL.

During our drives around Kruger, we didn't see a lot of male Kudu, mostly female, but I was pleased to be able to photograph this proud male, who seemed very interested in the camera.

I am feeling rather tired tonight as we spent the day moving Peter's Dad from one room in the aged care facility to another. He has so much of his favourite things with him, so it took over 7 hours of walking backwards and forwards along a very loooong corridoor, but he is now firmly settled in his new room. Everything is where it should be except his computer which has to be installed by a friend who knows how to do these things. As he loves surfing the net, I think this upsets him more than anything else LOL. I am sure I did way more than my recommended 10,000 steps today.

Internet access has been erratic in France. Last night it would not upload any photos for some reason. We are off to dinner at a regional restaurant - catch you later

After saying that I was disappointed not to see any zebra during our stay at the camp, on the last game drive before leaving for Capetown, I saw two lots - one a mother and baby.

When we were staying in Capetown, South Africa, the markets were just outside the hotel. We wandered around on the first day and had trouble choosing what souvenirs to take home with us.

We saw many items made out of Coca Cola lids and cans (and other drinks as well), but the most interesting that we saw was the radio and the handbag.

7 more days to go

We were supposed to have wi-fi in our little cottage, but the cable is not working, so we are in a local hotel. Little Gate House describes the cottage to a T - it is so tiny. I am guessing that it would be lucky to be 15 foot square in total, although it is beautifully furnished. It is on the edge of the New Forest and we have seen wild horses wandering alongside the road already.

I love Betty Boop and was window shopping in Windsor before we flew home and found a shop that had so many in the window.

We are going up to Gosford today to take Peter's Dad to the nursing home. We will be staying until Thursday evening so I am adding a photo for tomorrow as well. We probably won't have internet so I will catch you all when I get back.

This will be my last upload for a while. We are being picked up tomorrow at 5.30 a.m. by the shuttle bus for the trip to the airport. After around 16 hours in the air, we will arrive at Johannesburg Airport to begin our journey. I am not feeling too bad with my cold, but the cough is driving me crazy. I pity the poor passengers on the plane.

Another photo taken in Peter & Sally's garden during our visit.

Today was my second youngest granddaughter's 7th Birthday. She chose to have a Build a Bear party a few months ago and has been so excited ever since counting down the days. Everyone had a wonderful time and got to take a bear home with them.

The first butterfly that has landed in my garden long enough for some photos. They will disappear soon for the Winter - the days are getting shorter and cooler now.

I really love these photos of the beautiful grevillea that grows in our back garden. I have added an action called Jo Color Spring Wildflowers on the photos to add extra sparkle.
