5 days to go.

Today we went to Stonehenge and Salisbury where I met up with another Flickr friend - Paul Chambers.

We are having to go to a local pub to use wi-fi and it is a little erratic at times - will catch up with everyone when the internet is better.

I have decided to join Nina on her challenge to add a flower photo a day for 365 days.

We are headed up to Peter's Dad's house this afternoon and won't be back until Tuesday, so this is my flower a day for Monday.

Playing around with textures again - they are so much fun.

We are now in Yamba and will be heading into Queensland tomorrow morning. We may reach Hervey Bay tomorrow afternoon, but the weather today has been much better today.

This is one of the first bears that I have made and she sits in my china cabinet. I dressed her in her party dress for photos and she loves her new dress.

It is Mother's Day here in Australia, so Happy Mother's Day to everyone. I have just come back from a picnic and I am just beginning to thaw out - it has been so cold and windy today

Spotted my littlest granddaughter under the dining table giving Mummy a hug. I can't believe that in another three weeks she will be one. Time has gone by so fast.

I also couldn't resist taking a photo of Mummy's fashion style. She is a lover of bling LOL.

I have had my brother and family staying for a few days and haven't been spending much time on Flickr, but I will catch up with everyone tonight.

These little violas are still coming up in my wheelbarrow garden, although this photo was taken in April.

I am having a really bad day today with my wrist/hand so I think I will be resting it until we leave for our trip. Thank goodness for archives.

When we were staying in Marloth Park, the yellow Hornbill used to come to the bird feeder in the front yard which overlooked the Crocodile River.

The battery is running low on the computer, so I will catch up with everyone tomorrow.

Some more photos from Wednesday - way too hot to go out in the garden today - up to 42C in some parts of Sydney

When I first saw this little bee I thought it was a Blue Banded bee, but on uploading the photo, it doesn't have blue/black stripes, so I am not sure what it is.

When we stayed in Londonderry, Peter wanted to visit Free Derry at Bogside.

I was nominated by Angela to do the B&W challenge for 5 days - this is #3. This is Jasper, taken a couple of months before he passed away surrounded by his family.

Jasper became a member of my daughter's family before her eldest boy was born almost 15 years ago. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge earlier this year at 16 years. It was a sad day for the family, including Shiloh, their three year old whippet. Since then they have welcomed Jet, another whippet, as company for Shiloh - see my previous photo.

We had a 7 hour drive today from Isandlwana to Hartbeespoort. We have internet, but it is still slow, but hopefully I can catch up later this evening.

This is one from my archives - I haven't been going out much with the camera for a few days. We used to have a couple of Oleander trees in the garden, but took them out a few years ago as they were getting too big, but the flowers are always so pretty.

The Badshahi Mosque is an iconic Mughal-era congregational mosque in Lahore. The mosque is located opposite of Lahore Fort and is widely considered to be one of Lahore's most iconic landmarks. It is on the Tentative List of UNESCO World Heritage Site.

When we were at the waterhole looking at the huge rhinoceros, I turned around and spotted these two Hamerkop birds doing a courting dance (or maybe something a bit more romantic LOL).

Continuing with the bird theme, this is a Southern Ground Hornbill that we spotted during a drive around Kruger. We stayed 10 days in Marloth Park which butts onto Kruger and spent 10 days driving around Kruger - it was wonderful. The males can grow to a height of 130cm, with the males attaining a weight of up to 6 kgs and the females being around 2 kgs lighter. They have a melodic call which is what I heard before I actually saw them

I am sure Nina will have better things on her mind to continue the challenge - she is off to Alaska tomorrow for a photographic tour - I would love to be going with her.

It is the first day of Autumn in Australia today and it is raining and much cooler. I know that the hot weather will be back, but I am enjoying the cool while it lasts.

This is a Geranium that I have growing in a pot in the back garden that has only just flowered again after some months.

A lot of people have mentioned the thorn trees in Africa. The thorns are very hard and very sharp and can cause a lot of damage, but they don't seem to bother the animals. I have even seen giraffes eating them. I do know that they hurt from personal experience. During our trip in 2005, we were on the back of a truck which was driving through the undergrowth. Peter was standing in front of me and he brushed aside a thorn bush as we passed, but forgot to tell me to duck. It hit me in the face and drew blood, but didn't cause as much damage as it could have, thank goodness. We brought a couple of these thorns home on our last trip and they measure between 8 and 9 cms and are very hard and sharp. We had a lot of trouble just breaking them off the tree.

This plant is in a hanging basket in my garden. It is an unusual plant and the leaves are the shape of a heart.

We went for a drive to Franschhoek in South Africa when we were staying in Capetown. What a lovely little town filled with colourful souvenirs. I love the lifesize statues, but they would be too difficult to bring back to Australia. Peter did bring back a painted ostrich egg to go with the carved one that he brought back on our last trip.

This describes my brother at the moment. We spoke to the doctor this morning and he is still not keen to give him codeine based pain killers only Panadol. They gave him something stronger last night and he said he slept like a baby all night, so obviously he needs them. Tonight he is going to give him a placebo, but if he has a bad night I won't be happy. On top of everything else, we have been told that he has tested positive to Golden Staph. You go to hospital to hopefully get better and you come out worse.

Update: The orthopaedic specialist came in to see my brother and wasn't happy about him beingtaken off medication - he is going to try some new pain killers on him which shouldn't make him too drowsy

Another Zinnia from my neighbour's garden.

I saw the specialist yesterday about the residual pain in my wrist. He said I need to have another MRI but as I am extremely claustrophic, I need to have it done under sedation. The only problem is that the first appointment that I could be given is the 15th August, the day we fly out of Australia, so it will have to wait until we arrive back home at the end of October. I will be able to wear the splint that I wore before the operation, which should ease the pain while I am away.

The Temple inside the fort, is dedicated to Lord Siva named as Jalagandeeswarar and is noted for its sculptures, which speak volumes of the exquisite craftsmanship of the highly skilled artisans of that period. The sculptures in the Porch on the left of the entrance are connoisseurs. It has a big marriage hall adorned with elegant engravings and monolithic sculptures. The Temple was used for long as an arsenal and remained without deity. A few years back it has been sanctified with a deity Lord Siva which is worshipped by pilgrims and tourists.

This is a Cosmos growing in my garden.

We are in the process of planning another trip away from mid August until October- we are going to do an 8 day tour of rural France which includes a visit to Normandy (a place that Peter has wanted to see for a long time) and then we are going to spend about 7 weeks driving around the UK - I am so excited as I didn't think it would happen until next year. We normally have 12 months or so to plan, so this time organising is a bit hectic LOL.

We still have slow internet, so still no comments.

We had an amazing day in Kruger yesterday. We saw a leopard in the bushes (not as close as our sighting last trip) and not long after, we saw some wild dogs. We thought that they were too far in the bushes, but as we slowly moved away, we saw them running down towards the car - very exciting.

Our trip is going fast now - we arrive home next Saturday, so only four more days in Kruger and we will be making our way down towards the airport for the flight home.

This is a grevillea that is growing in my garden.

After tomorrow I will be unable to go out each day and take a photos as I am booked in for surgery at 4.30 on Friday afternoon. The surgeon is going to shorten the Ulna bone by sawing through the bone, taking 3 mm off and then join the bone with a metal plate and screws. He is also going to fix the Carpal Tunnel at the same time. I am getting quite nervous, but hopefully it will stop the pain that I have been having to around 18 months or more. I will be around, but will be delving into my archives for photos for the challenge.

This is a Pineapple Lily that is growing in my neighbour's garden. The heat has burnt it off a little, but it is still beautiful.

This elephant was standing not far from the road as we were driving by. It came over to say hello and as we weren't sure whether it was happy or not, we didn't stay long after seeing videos of elephants tipping cars over.

When we were driving around South Africa and Swaziland I was very interested in the people going about their daily lives. These photos were taken from the car sometimes travelling at 120 kph. Some are a little blurry, but on the whole I am happy with them. More to come at a later date.

Some more views of Scotney Castle that I took during a visit with my dear friend Pat (www.flickr.com/photos/larigan/). We had a lovely day for our visit and I was so happy to get some lovely reflections.

Grevillea are the most amazing looking plants - these are growing in our garden at the moment, but these are some photos taken a while back.

We had a southerly change come through early this morning and today is a pleasant 27 C. I took the opportunity to put up the Christmas tree. It only seems like yesterday when I was taking it down.

This place is known for many types of birds. I'm not into bird photography but this lakes gave many renowned photographer their uplifts. Even to me for one image. Winter is the best time to see when "Ranmal Lake " is covered by seagulls.

Shot was taken on the regular day. of course not of winter. :-)

Today is the first day of Autumn here in Australia and we have had rain most of the day. I ventured out under an umbrella for some photos LOL.

We saw a lot of cars on the side of the road and knew it was a lion or leopard. When we managed to find a place to park, I finally spotted this lion looking at all the action.

This is a beautiful flower that I found in Amboise, France.

We had a full day today visiting Chermonceaux Chateau, Amboise Castle and a visit into the caves where they make sparkling wine in Amboise.

Internet access has been very erratic and slow so I haven't been able to leave comments - time is limited also. We fly into England on Friday and we will be travelling at a much more relaxed pace after then.
