(RELEASED) June 22, 2010 -- Josh Hovey, survey party chief with Rinker Design Associates, works with a co-worker (not pictured) to mark locations for curbs and gutters adjacent to the Emergency Services Center at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Campus East (NCE) project site at Fort Belvoir North Area, Va.

The Emergency Services Center is being constructed to support the new NGA facility at the site, and is being managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Baltimore District.

The roof of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency is an Ethylene Tetrafluroethylene (ETFE) roof. ETFE is a fluorine based plastic designed to protect against corrosion and provide substantial strength over a wide temperature range. The material is 1 percent the weight of glass, and its translucent nature allows natural light into facilities and helps control heat gain, thus reducing amounts of electricity used within the facility.
