There was an Isambard Kingdom Brunel railway bridge across the River Walkham at this point, but it was demolished in the 1960's shortly after the railway line closed.
This replacement bridge was constructed in 2012 with the aid of an EU grant.
The two halves of what has now become a cycle track are thus connected together. The bridge is for cyclists and pedestrians, and enables commuters from the town of Tavistock to reach Plymouth easily. This reduces the road traffic somewhat.
It is 24m above the river and 200m long.
A small hidden gem that you just have to spot and record. Leneke (my wife) did so and the result is great.
Taken during our trip to Germany at the end of July.
some slides i found from late 50s/early 60`s of gems (???)
never thought of it before but it seems like a nice hobby
These unplanned spots are worth to explore and photograph. They are literally gems enroute. We are travelling to Madyan from Jebel Al Lawz (which was closed for tourists and we could only make as near as 10KMs to it) and I am being dropped from the car for a solo exploration. My friends are at the gas station and look what I found. There are so many places on the earth which deserve a name really.

I think I will name her Opal Divine. That is the name of my favorite tavern. They serve a luscious "pecan porter". The porter is one of several products of a microbrewery in Austin Texas. It never travels far from the vat to the tap.
A different view than my usual Gem Valley shot. Deep snow forced me to change routes today

The aptly named Gem Lake, in Rocky Mountain National Park. The hike to the lake is only 1.8 miles, and is uphill all the way. Rock formations like the ones around the lake are all along the trail. This lake is shallow and has no inlet or outlet. It depends on snow melt and rainfall to keep it full

When I noticed those small droplets suspended in a spider web on the tip of a maple tree gem, I decided it was worth it a shot. I only had a compact camera with me, but I am still pleased with the result.
I have been to Rockwood Conservation area before, but have never noticed this point of view of the waterfalls.
Nearly everything in my yard right now is either a weed or is dead...not too much survived last year's summer/winter...I did find this one lovely gem...not all is lost...
