A close-up view of Gem-studded Puffballs. After they ripen a small pore will open on the top of each one and spores will be dispersed on air currents.
Grevillea Honey Gem - Grevillea banksii and pteridifolia - An Australian native flower hybrid , which is Ohhh so wonderful and has a lovely honey scent - these flowers are very attractive to a range of Australian native birds due to the nectar they hold.

Always a great view in late summer of Gem Valley ID from Beaver Dam Rd. The pointed mountain on skyline is my ole favorite mt Sherman. This is the opposite view from my side in Bear Lake Valley
To me, amethyst is the gem of love and will always remain so.
I've got a large collection of amethyst stones that I used to gather from around my school almost fifteen years back. This is one of them. I've been fascinated by gemstones since then, and the wonderful colors they come in!
Gem Valley & Baldy Mt
While driving through Gem Valley Lynette commented that this was a beautiful valley.
That was before we got the view above the valley.
It may be hard to see but Baldy still has two small patches of snow left

The little favourite of British children's parties for over 150 years ;)
In 1850 a biscuit company, Huntley and Palmer, tried out new biscuit technology but found that there new biscuits came out shrunken and tiny. Thomas Huntley liked the little biscuits and called them Gems. The public love the new little biscuits and they are a sensation!
In 1910 little mountains of coloured icing are added to the Gems and Iced Gems were born. They are now made in Liverpool.
Iced Gems were the first mini biscuit to be sold in bags...an idea that has now spread throughout the industry.
Iced Gems have five colours, white, yellow, orange, pink and purple. The little points of icing have different fruity flavours.
As a child I used to bite off the biscuit bases first and saved the little icing mountains to eat last...but, as you know, I was an odd one!
Picked up a gem of a lense, the Tokina 11-16 f2.8...
Learning to shoot with a wide angle is a completely difference experience, one that is going to take me some time to get comfortable with it. This shot was taken with the first batch of pictures developed from this lens. Shout out to Visual Echos for the edit, as without him this shot fails to stun.
A disconsolate man sits on the edge of the area of Stokes Croft called Turbo Island. A partly burned shopping trolley full of discarded clothes and trash is in the foreground. On top of the heap of rubbish an old guide to a beautiful part of the countryside. 'Gems of Lakeland'. A book that is as far away from this scene as is possible. Welcome to the UK May 2021

According to the American Jazz Museum's website:
"Originally named the Star Theater, the Gem was built in 1912 by the Shriner and Powellson Amusement Company as a silent movie palace serving Kansas City’s African American population. It was renamed the Gem in 1913, and by the time motion pictures could talk in 1929, it had become an established fixture on 18th Street.
Unfortunately, its years as a movie theatre ended in 1960 and by the 1980s, it had faded into a shadow of its former glory. However, when Mayor Richard Berkley and then City Councilman Emanuel Cleaver spearheaded the revitalization of 18th & Vine in the 1980s, the Gem Theater became a centerpiece of the district’s renovation efforts. As a result of the vision and perseverance of Kansas City’s civic leaders, the Gem was restored into a beautiful, state-of-the art performance venue.
Behind the restored 1912 façade is a modern 500-seat performing arts center, complete with state-of-the-art technology and equipment. From live music to community events, the Gem Theater continues to stand as a crown jewel of the 18th & Vine District."
