Central MA, USA, on a collard leaf, 6-19-07 AM

Know what this is? Friend or foe for the collard leaf? Maybe 1/8 inch big, if that.

This statue is deep in thought - Is it okay for me to ask this next question? Hmmm...

This is the one with the 'enigmatic' inscription that's been linked to Dan Brown's strange theories about hidden treasure and secret societies.

I didn't mean to get a shot of his ass. It just happened.

Today was a perfect day for working in the yard. We're putting down new weed blocking tarp and fresh pine straw along the side yard under the trees. I'm planting some shade plants (hostas and ferns) with some red accents. I did not finish today, but I had a great time being out there before the heat and humidity return this week!

Progress shot of the new flower bed. The California poppy is going great!

The boys tug up the roots that had been thwarting them this whole time. Take that, tree feet!

The idea is to split the garden into a number of distinct levels. Making effective use of the slopingness. Here we see my attempts at auto-digging. The idea being that if you leave a spade long enough, it may start digging itself out of sheer boredom.

Hodsock Priory near Blyth has a snowdrop tour every year. In spite of its name it was never a priory. And the gateway is the only authentic bit dating before the Victorian era.

I'd make a snarky comment, but I'm too busy being grouchy because you can see my shadow in the picture. -snarlie-

Lisa Bailey, vice-principal of the Mountain View Primary School, has hailed the recently launched School Garden Project as an important life lesson in self-sustainability and community development. Yesterday, FLOW Foundation launched the initiative in conjunction with the Jamaica 4-H Clubs.

pimento pepper transplant (next to tomato... thats probably it's problem but I am still deciding if it is and if I will move this guy)

Happy with the leveling of the clay and other bits and bobs I now need to fill the grassed area up to the top with top-soil.

My basil diversity set came in.. they will be companions to the heirloom tomatoes I have (all from seeds of change)
