Sorry guys, I can't make my mind up so here is a series of dragonfly images I took in my garden. As you can see, it is the same common darter on a garden sculpture but turning just a couple of inches one way or another gave me these different backgrounds.
A newly emerged common dater dragonfly in my garden still dripping as it stiffens ready to fly for the first time.
We have been very lucky this year to witness 12 new darters emerge from my pond, sadly this one is unlikely to make it as the weather has made a change for the worse with cold and wet weather due for a few days.
I realised I haven't put many of my images up so far this year so I'm going to populate my photostream in sections. Todays offering is flowers from my garden. It's been a mixed year with the strange weather we've had but the winners were the Helenium (sneezeweed), Asters and Echinacea.
As part of my cardiac rehab I have to walk for a while each day but going to the same place every time is VERY boring. So I took a trip out to Sudbury Hall to have a walk round the grounds.

Sorry for another image dump guys but I want to populate a new album of insects for 2020, please feel free to browse if you want or just ignore.
This is Elvaston Castle. A lovely place owned by Derbyshire county council and run as a country park. and it's on my way home from work and open till 8 at night this time of year.
Great place for an after work stroll.
One more from todays garden shoot. This little damsel fly joined me for while giving me an intense stare ;o)

I was super excited to see this Southern Hawker ovipositing in our garden pond, here's hoping for the spectacle of future emergence.

We have been very lucky with numerous dragonflies emerging from the big pond. It's always a pleasure to find each new darter in the morning, this time it was quite well on in the drying process and in less than an hour it had taken it's first flight dipping into the flowers close by. Image four of todays upload shows the darter with it's cast shell or exuvia.

Excuse the image dump but I wanted to expand this years dragonfly series so I can keep track of the numbers etc in my garden from year to year.

Although a cold November day outside, it was lovely to begin a new painting in the warmth of the shed.
