Select members of the Lexmark Photography Club were tapped to help photograph kids working at the Mandaue Open-Dump Site near the Marcelo Fernan Bridge. Its pitiful that these kids had to work when they should be in schools studying...just like my own son.

This is our view from kitchen. It wasn't until a few days before we left that I looked down and saw all the garbage. Rats and cockroaches anyone?

Everything is collected separately (newspapers, cartons, bottles, "burnable" mixed trash) - some on separate designated days
some garbage i notice while walking to the atm in colaba. dont know why i clicked it..it seemed very interesting at the time
Sadly, trash is a problem in paradise. Garbage is dumped in fields and is sometimes burned. The locals don't seem concerned with how litter taints such a beautiful natural landscape.

Garbage City is part of Cairo's Orthodox Christian sector. One of the largest and oldest churches in Cairo is the Cave Church, actually built into the side of a cliff. Garbage City is next to it and it's residence spend their lives sorting through garbage. They collect it from the rest of the city, sort the valuables out, then get rid of the rest. The people aren't necessarily poor, but have adapted to this role and have become quite good at it. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the people are very nice and hospitable
