On March 4/5, 2008, we had quite an ice storm in my area.
My favorite local news station, 19 Action News, dubbed the storm as "Ice Storm '08."

I travel that road only in the winter, less dusty than the rest of the year. It is nowhere as busy, we saw only 2 other vehicles during the 4 hours we were there. The weaher forcast was mix of sun and clouds. We got clouds, fog and snow. The temperature was -19 Celcius.
The light was difficult and changing. he upside is that the images do not look like postcards.
The road trip continued through the Norwegian fjords with a trip up past frozen lakes and rivers, over a partially thawed mountain pass, and then back down to the sea.

Day 1 of the Ice Storm, aka Stormageddon 2.0, that plagued Atlanta (2 weeks after the previous storm brought the city to its knees with standstill traffic lasting upwards of 24 hours).
Images of the frozen tundra around WUPA/CW69 television with a mixture of snow, ice and slush that covered vegetation, tree limbs, Chevy trucks, fire hydrants and sleek driveways.

With Freezing fog overnight and temperatures down to at least -14c there have been some spectacular frosted trees just waiting to have their picture taken. This sort of frost usually drops off as fine needles of ice during the day but locally daytime temperatures haven't risen above -4c so they have lasted for several days now.

Our trees were covered in ice this morning, many of the branches drooping to the ground. Winter in near.
Dunlap Observatory Post Process Edit #2 primarily edited through onOne PhotoTools. Taken with a Hoya Super Circular Polarizer filter after the big ice storm in Toronto which left everything outdoors covered in ice...kind of like The Day After Tomorrow meets Han Solo carbonite. Felt like hell froze over but difficult to look away at the beauty of crystallized foliage. What a way to welcome Christmas! Re-post processed photo as the first time I was doing it without a mouse half-assed and left a bit of kinks which I've fixed here and made lighting a little more dramatic. #icestormTO #icestorm2013

We had some freezing rain that didn't quite turn into a full-on ice storm, but it certainly did a bang-up job encasing everything in ice. Pretty to look at, scary to walk on!
This peticular day, a winter wonder landscape,I thought, let's go out and take some shots. I encountered this man who, apparently, had known my now long departed parents and I chatted with him on my way back home.Converted to grayscale in Adobe Lightroom

It was only 10˚ F ( - 6˚ C ) in the morning (reading in my car) when I took this shot.
Very cold.

The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity ... and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.
William Blake
I was walking on this frozen underground lake when I spotted this tree that grew out of the ice. Nature never seizes to amaze me!
Je marchais sur le lac souterrain gelé quand j'ai découvert ce magnifique arbre qui s'est formé dans la glace. La nature ne cesse de me surprendre et de m'enchanter par sa beauté.
