This fire occurred three days before the Marshall Fire that broke out near Boulder, Colorado, involving the estimated loss of ~1,000 homes, especially in Superior and Louisville, on December 30, 2021
High winds aloft as East Troublesome Fire grew six times in size to ~125,000 acres overnight. A new fire, it is already the 4th largest fire in Colorado state history. It is in the Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park area, as seen from the Rocky Mountain Front Range and the Denver Basin in Colorado at sunset.

We had two days of frigid temperatures that remained below 0F/-17.8C. But through the night last night the temperatures actually went up, from -1F/-18.3C to 23F/-5C! The weather continued to warm and much of the snow and ice thawed.
