I took my time on this batch. It passed the window pane test, and it matched ideal consistency.

Nutritious and delicious - I made this brilliant magenta beet soup from Barbara Kwasnik's amazing authentic Polish recipe. The color was just too wonderful not to take a photo, though I'm afraid the real color doesn't quite come through.

Basket #3

This was my first attempt at making a basket from scratch, from a pattern called "Amy's Basket". I'm starting to notice a trend that getting the basket started is the easy part! Things got a little scary near the end; I had my first try at trimming down the stakes as I neared the top (to keep the vertical spacing somewhat more consistent), so that was pretty intimidating. It went okay for the most part, but some of the lashing around the top didn't come out too evenly because there just wasn't enough room to pull the lasher through. This shot captures the best example of lashing work on this basket. I learned some great new techniques!

Despite my tribulations, it is a very nice, sturdy basket, suited well for carrying any number of items from point A to B.

Dimensions: 8" x 8" x 8" (12", including the handle)

This turned out so good. I don't think I'll ever be able to eat any other potato soup as long as I know this one exists, hehe.

I don't know why, but I LOVE this photo! I want to blow it up to 8x10 and hang it in my kitchen eventually :-)

Our friend Casteele baked these cupcakes from scratch. They were his gift to Bella for her birthday, and it was an awesome gift 'cuz that meant I didn't have to do it! She loved them, and so did everyone else!
