My very first German Chocolate Cake made entirely from scratch. I have to say it turned out pretty tasty..I wish I could share it you my friends, :) xoxo
Nothin better than a four generation recipe for Farmhouse Buttermilk Biscuits. They literally melt in your mouth! You don’t really need jam but I included it in this macro for a bit of color.
Well, they will be when I get it all together....
I've finally perfected a great muffin with one whole orange pureed in a blender ...yep, skin and all.
The recipe .. from 'Company's Coming', calls for dates and I left them in as well...but added cranberries because that was what I wanted.
What a yummy muffin!
The reason? One time, 2 years ago...I had a cranberry/orange muffin from McDonald's of all places....and, ...it was pretty good. I enjoyed the flavours and wanted to make my own, seeing as I never (okay.... hardly ever) buy ready made food.
It's a bit fiddly with having to use the blender .. and clean it .. and chop cranberries, etc...but, hey .... it's worth it for these babies!
Smile On Saturday-Picture A Proverb
Talking about a pie and seeing it is not the same. The modern use of the phrase is generally attributed to Fred R. Barnard. Barnard wrote this phrase in the advertising trade journal Printers' Ink, promoting the use of images in advertisements that appeared on the sides of streetcars "according to Wikipedia."
I have a habit of baking on Saturdays. This is a Gluten-Free, Sugar-Free Liberty Apple Pie made with Apples we grew in our "Front Yard Orchard." I've made so many things with the apples, and I still have some to go. I think I will freeze the rest for future meals.
For my dear, sweet flickr friend, Paddu Rao for your kind words today. Thank you so much! Here is a link to his photo stream if you have time, it's worth a look!
You all may help yourself to a slice!
Have a wonderful Sunday evening my friends!

ODC-Sunday
I like to bake on weekends. This weekend I decided to make some Gluten Free Artisan Bread in my Emile Henry Bread Pot. I love this pot, unlike most dutch ovens, it's made of ceramic and much lighter.
Betty Crocker's scratch recipe, that is. No fancy-shmancy muffins--they're from a box. Taken the other day when my daughter asked to make blueberry muffins. Just add eggs, water, mix, fold in the blueberries, bake, and voilĂ .

Totally made from scratch. My convection toaster oven has a Pizza setting and it bakes my Pizzas to perfection! This has a spelt crust. I used King Oyster Mushrooms on this, my favourites!!!
My niece, Jo, had the great fortune to marry a wonderful man Mark who is not only a great husband & father, but an excellent chef! He is a pilot, write her poems, hunts, builds beautiful things in his woodworking shop as well as does needlepoint! Some girls have all the good fortune!
I made this on Saturday from scratch. It's gluten free Carrot Cake. It isn't as good as a regular cake with AP flour, but we're trying to avoid too much gluten in our diet.

Swiss steak with buttered noodles is the perfect mid-day meal on a chilly day in September.
The temperature dipped down to 32 degrees last night, and will only rise to 50 today, so it's time to enjoy some comfort food again.
365: The 2018 Edition-Pizza :)
Today, I made this totally from "Scratch" Pizza. I love good food and making it myself seems like the best way to ensure that I'm not eating too much salt, sugar or chemicals. This took a few hours due to the dough rising. We gobbled it up. Probably one of the best pizza's I've made in a long time. I baked it in my convection toaster oven on the pizza setting. First time I've used it, should have done that a long time ago!

I made this pasta from scratch. I also made a Vegan Fettuccine White Sauce for it. The Cheese was also Vegan.
Breakfast this morning using what I had in the fridge, before my weekly run to the farmers market and/or grocery store.
Lately, I'm in the mood of more simple foods, simple plating. Still trying my best to use all fresh and natural ingredients.
Handmade from scratch is the best!
Sometimes I like to wing it when I cook, so it's a surprise when I finish the dish. It's fun to be adventuresome in the kitchen. I did the prep on the stove-top and finished it in the oven. I love using the stove-top and oven together. It's just a great way to cook! I'm a confirmed believer that using Cast Iron is definitely one of the best pans to use.
