Went to visit my Dad today and spent a lovely few hours on his deck surrounded by greenery and renewed my spirit a bit. We talked about a lot of things and as usual, I enjoyed spending time with him.
Check out this frame! It is for a commission for a co-worker! He used scraps (he has tons!) and put a lip around it. The glass on the inside is even scraps he's had laying around. He wouldn't let me pay him for it either. He said he enjoyed making it and anytime I needed a frame of any size, he'd be happy to make one for me. How cool is he?!
As I was getting ready to leave, I mentioned something to him about seeing a house on my way to work each morning with stained glass things around and an old window with the frame still on it sitting against a tree with stained glass in it. He moved some boards around and said: "like these?". OMG!!! He has 6-10 old window frames sitting in his driveway not knowing what he was going to do with them. Once I could breathe again, I told him what great mosaics they could make. He asked me if I wanted one or two. Um ... chyeah! He also pulled out a piece of what I hope is tempered glass from an old fridge. My Dad saves things from the landfill and makes his daughter happy! Happy planet, happy daughter, good Karma for us all!!

The Barony A Frame Trust was set up in 1997 as a community led charitable Trust specifically to save and restore the iconic A Frame at the former Barony Colliery in Auchinleck, East Ayrshire.
Following the decision by Scottish Coal to close the pit, all of the mine buildings were demolished leaving the A Frame structure isolated in a derelict landscape. However, no one had banked on the depth of feeling for the former Barony Colliery and its unique A Frame. The community rallied around the mission to save the A Frame from demolition. and create a meaningful and sustainable monument to mining and mining communities.
The structure was in need of a major face-lift so, with assistance from East Ayrshire Council, the Trust set about raising £1.3m to carry out the work. Fundraising took far longer than was initially anticipated but by 2007 the remedial work to the A Frame was complete along with major landscaping and improvement works to the surrounding site. The end result is a sustainable, meaningful monument to the mining industry and the communities who worked in it.
Eps10. Realistic vector design. Most of elements are placed in groups to make artwork easy editable. Color transparency used to define color, so it can be changed just in few steps. Enjoy!
The man himself did the final fitting and setup. That was really nice.

Experimenting with using what was around me to provide a frame of the mansion at Bretton Hall. Here with one of the magnificent trees on the site.
In 1720 Sir William Wentworth built the Palladian mansion that forms the centre of today's Bretton Hall.
I asked geo3pea if I could print & frame one of his photos for my house & he kindly agreed. I think it looks beautiful. I'm also hanging one of doglinton's photos but haven't found a frame for it yet. Thanks to my flickr friends I'll have some really nice art in the house.
Verder studeren op licht. Het was echt hels om de "muur" geen licht te laten vangen. Op die rode flitser na dan. Dus wel licht van voren maar niet op de muur, en wel op de lijst.Millimeter werk. Was weer een hele goede oefening.
The Auckland Regional Council (ARC) administers the regional parks in the Auckland region and have these frames to most of the parks to frame the local beauty of the area.
A quick shot I took for the Terrapin Photography Club's theme for November 14th, "Natural Framing" - I cloned out things like some stray reflections that were pointed out at the meeting.

The vendor for this picture frame had most of her stuff fall to the ground after a huge gust of wind. Fortunately I don't think any of her stuff broke.

A cascade of doorways frame an old lady leaning against one of the old doorways in Hopoh, China.
During a recent trip to China, we visited the town where my Dad and his family were from, Hopoh. Hopoh is located in Jiexi, Quangdong.
Monday 13th August- Monday 20th August
It's been hot. Very very hot. Wonderfully so. So hot in fact that everything was put on hold and days were spent lounging around with ice cream.
The weekend arrived and it was still hot- beach weather. The boyfriend and I went down to a west facing beach Saturday evening, had a picnic, swam in the sea and took far too many photos of the sun setting over the sea. A pinhole lens had arrived for me and it was time to experiment! Cider on the beach. Bliss...
A thousand cranes were folded, and many of them ended up on this frame. The others hung from the ceiling in the tent.
