I was down at the lake, when I heard a commotion behind me.
I spun around to see this Grey Heron taking off. I zoomed in and tried to get it in frame. But my panning was only partially successful, as I didn't get it all in frame.
At 1/320s, I obviously wasn't set up for an action shot? So wasn't expecting it to be any good? But the slow shutter speed gave some nice motion blur in the wings, and to my surprise, the details of the head were better than I expected?

This golden moment was found at the base of Burnet Falls, along the Sunshine Coast. When composing this shot I was thinking of those colored leaves on the tree. How out of season they were considering their Fall colors. We are well into summer so they had to be part of the shot because they are such an anomaly.
If you look closely, you will see a rock behind the main waterfalls. It gives a diagonal line and has a ghostly effect. It is intended to balance with the other rock that is receiving the pounding of water. One has to enjoy the little extras nature will deliver.

Kari and I took a walk through Grand River Park this evening to see if we could get the Barred Owls to show themselves. As we were headed into the direction that we saw them last time we realized that there were a lot more leaves on the trees than before. But as luck would have it this owl ended up landing in a perfect hole so we could get a good shot of him.
... and, in the frame, my daughter and my niece !
