You never know what will come out of a broken crayon (#17 in a series).

This is a quickie broken crayon doodle I did to try out Instagram Stories; you can see how I created this doodle in my Instagram Story today (if you follow me on Instagram, just look for my user icon circle at the top of your mobile device in the Instagram app) - it's up for the next 24 hours. www.instagram.com/inkygirl/

This is the only one of my Broken Crayon doodles so far created without any digital component. I usually opt for the latter because it enables me to get up super-close to the crayon (with a macro lens). I also find that a lot of manual drawing with a physical crayon tends to aggravate my tendinitis; it's the main reason I started experimenting with digital drawing years ago - I find drawing on a Wacom tablet is much easier on my tendons.

Caribou mint Tin Carl. His nose is a old permanent wave roller, ears are washers, mouth is a red soda can tab. He's quite handsome!

My friend Carolyn found this mini baseball bat which worked perfectly for the fuselage. the landing gear are rusty casters, the wings are a found metal angle bracket and some drift wood from lake superior.

Gun Sales Soar.... It appears that a lot of people in Arizona, and other States are buying up more guns since the tragic shootings last weekend in Tuscon. Some say it's because they are afraid their gun rights will soon be taken away, others say it's because people are scared and want to protect themselves.

Maybe places will start having gun boxes, in case of emergency, like they now have fire alarm boxes for emergencies?

Except, some measures will be enforced, like you'll have to be 21 years of age in order to break the glass. *sarcastic sigh*

Doodle created in ink & the shadow of a rose. For a photo showing the setup and how I came up with this idea by accident, see: debbieohi.com/home/2014/7/2/doodle-in-the-shadow-of-a-ros... And thanks to Hazel G Mitchell for the bouquet of flowers that helped create this found object (found shadow?) doodle.

Flash liked to take a moment to strike a particularly heroic pose before doing the actual rescuing.

Found on the beach. 01/28/10. Not sure what these are - plant or fish or something in between. Their black silhouettes are always startling against the sand.

These two clever elephants were made from found objects by Miss Ritchie Page, an artist in New Hope, PA. Her website is www.katclear.com.

This installation is part of the 4th St. revitalization in Reno, Nevada. This photo doesn’t do justice to the copper patinated derrière. Dana Albany’s “Tara Mechani,” which portrays a female form made mostly with recycled materials, is another Burning Man addition to the Reno Neon Line. My understanding is that the installation was sponsored by JACOBS ENTERTAINMENT

Mad Mark built this in the middle of the night out of materials lying around the Bulb. Clint Eastwood wants to help get it designated an historical landmark. It is has a heart shaped roof, a little spiral staircase, and an amazing view. that's the golden gate bridge off in the distance.
