A slightly larger that a postcard sized assemblage. Title refers to the depression I have been feeling whilst making the piece in the run up to "Brexit".

Found and made object sculptural relief. 400mm by 250mm.

Mixed media assemblage. The bottom right hand corner still seems a little unfinished. Might add something else here.

An exploration of memory, nostalgia, and the textures of nature.

This piece blends painting with found objects, layered fabrics, and textured elements to recreate the feeling of a crisp autumn fishing day by the lake. The warmth of fading foliage meets the quiet shimmer of water — and somewhere in between, a story unfolds.

A sculpture/ assemblage that took a long time to get right. It is made from vintage Cuisenaire rods (used to teach Maths). The difficulty I discovered is that each extra piece you add changes the composition so you essentially have a sculptural problem as soon as you have about three or four rods. You have to balance the composition and the colours. As you go though, you obliterate most of your earlier work by fixing new rods over the others. As you add more the scale of the rods relative to the whole size of the piece changes so that adds another problem to contend with. On top of that, the whole piece wants to tip over (because I wanted the dynamism of the piece intersecting the floor plane at an angle) so the centre of gravity defines the shape also to some extent. Anyway, a strangely difficult piece (but you wouldn’t think it to look at it). About 400mm tip to base.

I had a bunch of request for this guy so as soon as I located two of those hard-to-find legs, dusted a couple of beers and drilled three small bread loaf pans Beer2Dtwo the second was born!

A small collage/assemblage laid on board. 6.5 inches by 10 inches. Found objects, detritus etc.

David’s suggestion for a title works well in that it references the single hand written “N” in the piece but also alludes to the hand like form overall as suggested by Catharina. Thanks all.

I think Doris from the Disney's flick Meet the Robinsons movie is one cool creature. Apologies to Walt and the talented artist who created the original character, who's original message I can't find so if your interested please contact me. 10" tall x 16" wide x 12" deep.

I have been meaning to do something with a collection of beer mats that I bought. This is how it turned out. It is not exactly as I imagined initially. I have come to understand increasingly that art is less like design where one mostly plans things and thinks things through very carefully in order to achieve a specific goal but is more like Science where one explores, investigates and discovers things that one didn't necessarily start out to look for.

I am not sure about the background it is mounted on but these were pieces of card that were used as dividers in the collection of beer mats to separate out little groupings. It made sense to include these in the piece and I quite liked the faded nature of the obviously old cardboard used.

Yeah, I know, it's been a long time since I posted anything. I have continued creating new pieces while at the same time working on other, muy importanto projects. This piece is a self portrait I created for a fun local show. 16" x 9" x 24"

Paper, card, acetate. It is tricky holding the acetate because you can't just glue it because then you see the glue through it. You have to think about where you glue it with an eye on how to later cover the glue.

Mixed media collage, assemblage. Not sure if I have to somehow knock back the brown blob behind the pewter piece in the bottom right hand corner. I think it is a little too dense maybe.

Robot Robusto (8”)

Mr. Robusto’s crafted from a copper float, coffee strainer, vintage light toggle switch, fishing reel arms, assorted gears and an old cloth tape measure. I assembled Robusto as a response to Illustration Friday’s word of the week “fat”.

Brass bug

I wouldn't try swatting this bug...he may just swat back! Created from a brass flower

vase and surrounded with six windshield wiper arms this guy is impervious to any bug spray you've got out in the garage. His head is an old door bell button housing, cake decorator eyes, vintage typewriter antenna mated to a aluminum canning funnel. A cut-up electric fan blade and a pair of pot strainers provide his aerial attack.

Warning - If you see this guy buzzing your way - DUCK and COVER!

Schauer (15”)

Wide-eyed and up for a challenge nothing gets past Schauer. Gloriously displaying his radar headgear (lawn sprinkler) and dual window cranks (arms) this bot is master of all he surveys. A vintage motor analyzer case, auto valve bodies, electric drill parts, springs

and a big gold nose keep him on top of his game.

Mixed media collage and assemblage on board. Think I have to knock the Naples yellow back a bit because it looks too clean but will have to wait many months for the oil paint to dry. Approximately 500mm by 500mm.

Am still tweaking the colours but it is nearly finished. I thought I would try a non flat ground, instead tilting the two diagonal planes back about 5 degrees. It does give it an interesting jauntiness but it did cause a lot of unexpected extra work.

and the fish fry continues...Mahi Mahi aka Dorado or Dolphin Are Bright, Beautiful and Tasty - 22"

Shutter Bug is fashion from a vintage 1953 Ansco Shur-Flash box camera which I mounted to an old Squarespray "It Gets The Corners" Lawn Sprinkler base. The eyes/antennas once formed Swedish meatballs (...making it an international meatball tool, that just sound weird) and the six legs are "cheater brakes" off old ten-speed bicycles...want to view shutter bug with a hot babe - *Cinnamon.
