My inspiration for this assemblage came from a photo that facebook friend, and wonderful assemblage artist Terry Ray Flowers shared, check out my blog for that photo and more on this assemblage, dedicated to the people of Haiti, titled "Lord have mercy".

If you look closely, there are a few screaming rocks buried in the pile of rubble that the sandaled foot is walking on too. The hands at the top hold a handmade rosary.

I combined my love of steampunk and my love of faerie lore in these beautiful found object earrings! They feature a pair of matched keys I found, as well as a pair of lampworked beads, and some sparkling Swarovski crystals.

Lampwork beads are by Tucson artist Margaret Zinser, one of my very favorite beadmakers!

Currently available in my Etsy shop. Please see my profile for the link, or visit my blog at erthefae.blogspot.com

Hence the Pinnochio nose, This piece damn near got me busted I was browsing a scrap pile of a recyling center that I have given countless loads of iron to for free. They were closed but there scrap-pile is just sitting there on a old railroad loading dock unlocked- wide open- even kids could play king of the junk pile. I snatched the rusty spring(nose) and old saw(mouth), as I was walking to my Sanford and Son van the Fuzz pulled up. The cop was nice, but he didn't buy the fact we had an artistic relationship. They were all ready to dish me a $375 trespassing ticket but the next day the reycling center dropped charges. I thanked them and purchased my $11 pile of decorative iron.

To add insult to injury the cops never cancelled the paperwork and my violation (that didn't exist) was printed inthe local paper.

It was a huge heavy piece on an old yellow kitchen swing door, I lit & wired the eyes and nose. I brought it down to Salvage One www.salvageone.com were it sold in two weeks.

If Spongebob Squarepants and Lisa Simpson had a child this is what the critter would look like.

You can find art almost anywhere, if you look hard enough. Here's the story of how I became interested in Found Object art.

You can see a selection of these doodles on my website in my Found Object Art gallery.

Wall hanging art of recycled materials/found objects. Steel and aluminum. Riveted and welded construction. 24"X18"X3"

a group of mini diaramas made of found/recycled objects. They convey the quest for home.

While I was eating walnuts yesterday, I saw a dog nose. Had to draw the rest, of course.

The word "kaleidoscope" is derived from the Ancient Greek καλ(ός) (beauty, beautiful), είδο(ς) (form, shape) and -σκόπιο (tool for examination) – hence the definition; "observer of beautiful forms."

This is a light-hearted assemblage of Jesus as seen through the eyes of the "hippie generation", and examined through one facet of a kaleidoscope view.

At the top is a stain glass kaleidoscope. Inside the paisley papered box is "hippie Jesus" and his dog. Jesus' message of love and peace are found in the poster on the wall, and on the peace symbol he wears. The poster is nailed to the wall with 3 nails, similar to what may have been used in crucifixions. Other symbolic items featured: against the wall behind Jesus - a cross; An old bible leans against a wooden chalice; A key (to the kingdom, perhaps?) lies in front of the bible. A rooster stands in the background, perhaps the cock that crowed three times the day Peter denied Jesus? On the side walls are a sand dollar with a star shape, and on the opposite wall, a dove descends - symbolic of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus was known to be a bit of a rebel, this kind of reminds me of what may have been considered his rebel side. I also thought of calling this "Jesus' First Apartment" ...*lol*...but opted for the above title instead.

Anyway, like a kaleidoscope has many different views as it's turned, this is one different view of Jesus that I had fun putting together.

The pollution detecting fish robot seems like a perfect symbol of our attempts to solve problems caused by technology and industry with more technology and industry. Does the thing detect the pollution it surely emits, too?

Plus, I love that the real version of this machine is decked out in a Disney-like cartoon fish skin, putting a happy face on the whole project.

The Luna 1450 Syntax was the preferred heavy duty pistol of the Alturian pirates of late 2819. The pistol featured was used in the Retro-Robot wars from 2819-2947. It's owner, Voltex Ranni the Red, was infamous for his robot disintegration techniques. Voltex was the scourge of the Alturian space seas and died a violent, though long overdue, death at the hands of the K35X-0Q robot known as Bill. This Luna 1450 Syntax is on display at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.

From inception, Neil Botstrong has been a robot who laughs in the face of adversity--he is filled with an adventurous thirst, one that even the earth cannot quench.

So it was only natural Neil would become an astronaut. Embarking on innumerable ominous missions, he claims he's never happier than when he's defying gravity and off exploring uncharted territory.

By chance, do you, too, have an unquenchable thirst? Then Neil is your bot. What adventures will the two of you encounter?

(Storage available in rocket, just unscrew the red lid, as well as in Neil's body.)
