Something about the flowers, cows and forboding storm caught my eye. *please view large or original size*
The Tongariro National Park was used to depict Mordor in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I thought this picture of the sun breaking through some pretty forboding looking clouds really captured the mood.
Lucky for me, my neighbors don't mind me crawling around in their yards taking pictures. Who could have resisted on a gorgeous day like today?
I was not in the mood for subtle editing tonight. I added a photo veil from Love that Shot called "Poison Hemlock." I like the way it took the bright blue sky and made it dark, mysterious and a little forboding.
This is the street side of the LA Department of Transportation's new building downtown. Please notice the forboding walls and blank street-level architecture. This failure goes to the planners, architects and the client themselves. They should all have known better, and instead, added hundreds of feet of unattractive and unnecessary concrete wall to an otherwise awesome downtown.
We bush wacked our way down Loss Creek from the road bridge to a small canyon. It had rained yesterday, so the water was flowing fast and the creek was full. This is a wide angle shot using an ND110 filter. I like how it turned out, dark and forboding. Loss Creek is on the southern coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia.
Herculaneum was destroyed along with Pompeii when Mount Vesuvius erupted in AD79, burying the towns in ash, pumice and pryoclastic flows. It was the latter that buried the town of Herculaneum.
The photo shows both the ancient excavated ruins - which are in incredible condition for being over 2000years old, and the modern town built above it.
In the background stands for the for forboding spectre of Mount Vesuvius that so violently destroyed the town.
The clouds really made the scene that much more forboding!

I have two versions of this photograph. The other, the next photo, is dark and forboding. This one is optimistic. I like that it's green here and black there. I like that the sun is yellow here and white there. They create entirely different moods, and I could not pick one that I preferred.
I'm sure many of you will recognise the spooky,dark entrance to the Tate Modern.
I added a grainy effect. Not sure if I like it.

Just in time for Halloween! I went out picture taking today and came across these big birds in trees. At first I thought they were crows because I kept hearing crows, but these were vultures! Ooooooo scary!
A little different view of the same forboding sky that we've seen way too much of this winter. Unfortunately, we either get freezing rain or just rain, which just makes for more mud. Can you believe we are still below our average rainfall and the reservoir is still low? I would be happy if we'd had at least one more good snowfall, without the freezing rain that usually accompanied it. This winter was not very picturesque.
