This is a wonderful craft for kids. It’s fun to make origami paper star. These stars look so beautiful ,they would be …
I held a series of three sessions at KPF NY demonstrating severals ways to transform a flat single sheet of paper into a complex form. I demonstrated folds that used both standard origami techniques (square paper, no cutting) and more modern approaches (laser-cut and -scored curves). The square forms date back to the Bauhaus movement and I was inspired by the work I did for Erik and Marty Demaine when choosing the shapes of the curved forms. Special thanks also to Alex Soijka who helped with the video.

My fiance helped me design this logo. I wanted something clean and simple, but also related to origami. She suggested using symbols from origami diagrams.

My first improvement was adding a pencil holder.
It serves also the purpose to prevent pressing too hard on the the lid when closed, breaking the folding wood part
This great idea is from Snijlab.

But this design was made for a laser cutting machine.
So I changed the design for a CNC machine and addes some improvements: A DIN A6 version, a pencil holder, improved clamp and changed the position of the rubber band slot.

i created these from paper, they are two identical objects composed of eight pieces each, then fastened together with tape to fold into either a cube or a spherical object. each of the eight pieces are also identical measuring 1.5" cubed, each entire model measuring 3" cubed. each of the smaller objects were calculated and drawn as one piece the taped together to form the 3d part. the parts are like cubes cut 45 degrees on an offset diagonal of the shape, producing a nice foldable model
today, things did not go as i had planned, so i decided to explore this through my photos.
