The focus stacking rail is made from Lego. It uses an old-style high RPM motor, and three worm gears to push the subject along by about 1mm for every second of motor running.

Materials from a school project in Evesham. Photos taken by students through the town and along the river were merged using the Focus Stacking tools in Photoshop. They were then printed out for use in a giant collage.

I’m playing around with the focus stacking technique, which I learned at Hunt’s Photo in Melrose, MA.

I saw these very large acorns on the forest floor. Some almost the diameter of a quarter. So I gathered a few for a group photo. As I was taking the photo I thought, I have created a smorgasbord for some woodland Mouse or Squirrel or perhaps just perhaps the site of a future 150 year old Oak Tree and wouldn't that be cool.

The photo is a 4 photo focus stack to get the greatest depth of focus and a little exterior lighting by a lume cube stage right
