I have for quite a while been facinated by surface tension, but have never really been successful in turning that into a successful photograph. I think this one almost succeeds. Maybe something worth persisting with.
Asian hornet (Vespa velutina) with a german wasp (Vespula germanica). Both found in the garden (Boom, Belgium, 8th October 2023). Asian hornets are invasive and prey on bees, flies & wasps.

9 image focus stack. Don't look too closely at the flowers. The idea was to get the flowers in the foreground, which were moving in the breeze, and the hills of the peninsula in the background in focus together.
Photoshop did a pretty good job matching up the various images, but I had to do some erasing of the blooms, which ended up in two places at the same time.

Couple of Green Leafhoppers (Cicadella viridis; Cicadellidae, Hemiptera). Found in a wet meadow (Latvia, Valmiera, 22nd August 2023).
This species is hard to photograph from closeby, but these two didn't notice me I think.

I found a crystal-like vase that fits the 'ridges' theme perfectly in my opinion. This is a stack of 100+ photos as the subject is quite deep even at f13. Taken with the Nikon Z 105mm f2.8 at a 1:1 reproduction ratio (counted from the closest point on the vase).
Zoom in to see the tiny bubbles left over from the vase-making process!
