This guy's top set of wings were constantly fluttering. When I first saw it I thought it was stuck, but I noticed he kept fluttering them as he moved from thistle to thistle. It also looks like his bottom set of wings is damaged, but he seemed to be flying around all right.
I struggled to capture this fluttering curtain in these photos. I was already at ISO 100 and f22 but could not get the shutter speed as slow as I wanted to blur the curtain moving, inside and out.
No, really, that is what members of the Diptera family Pallopteridae are called: Flutter flies. This one is Toxonevra superba. It waves its boldly-marked wings alternately as it walks. Leavenworth, Kansas, USA, November 3, 2022.

we get many fledgings in our yard during the summer and spring and this is one of the young sparrows begging to be fed!
a sprite visited me in my attic room this morning, it got attracted 2 the flower petals! LOL!
i made this prototype sprite doll from REAL flowers, leaves, buds and stems! oh and the skeletal frame is paper mache and copperwire! the sprite doll is posable.
i think i did a very good job, but there are still some quirks and glitches i need 2 work on; hiding the copperwires more effectively, the facial expression of the doll, and ultimately its life time (since its made out real plants it decays and loses its vibrant colors rather quickly).....
comments, suggestions, thoughts, concerns anyone?

Variegated Flutterer is a distinctive dragonfly in Hong Kong. Its forewings and hindwings have a distinct pattern of black and yellow and it flies like a butterfly. Variegated Flutterers can be found gliding in a large group near the end of summer.
