Hundreds of these in the southern Hauraki Gulf, New Zealand

"Gular fluttering" refers to a bird opening its mouth and fluttering its upper throat muscles to promote heat loss, similar to dogs panting and humans sweating

Check this bad boy out, so lucky he sat still for me. isn't nature fabulous.

The changing of the guard at Gyeongbokgung palace.

It's been a cold and dreary Spring so far, but we finally have had some sun, and these crocuses were reaching as far as they could to drink it up.

Tiger Swallowtail butterfly in flight.

A nectar feeder just off camera draws this sweet seeker into the shot zone.

A Canon 400mm 5.6L is by no means a close up lens yet renders fine with it's prime glass.

(1/1000th of a sec. @ F-11) (pushed a stop or so).

At 4-6cm long, Flutter-Ring is an elegant earring made with Kamoe-Clay beads from Germany, swaroski crystals, czech crystals, high quality cat's eyes beads, high quality acrylic butterflies, rhodium-plated ear hooks etc. This earring goes really well with jeans attire. I just love the way the little butterflies appear to flutter around the rings of crystals and beads, don't you?

Shutter speed slowed to 1/50th to get the wing blur as he sat on the flower fluttering his wings while he ate.

 

I like the movement. :-)
