Inspired by a poem by Florine Stettheimer called Miss Butterfly who would rather change her name to Flutter by as she doesn't care for butter. Decided to do variation on a theme, to be mailed to a member of my collage group.

Blue Green Flutter Posies - in shop :)

What is it? It is a magazine cover in which creation I took part. Actually my problem was to make a cover and photosession only. But I’m lazy cattle, remember it)) So I has made only a cover a month later ^___^

It should be Halloween release, but the Halloween was one month ago, I hope U know it)) There are 3 editors (and me, the fourth), which cannot issue ready photos and text a month.

I feel a shamed, and I write everybody every week, that we should issue release. But then I recollect how I lazy and irresponsible, and I calm down.

Idea of a dress I took here, and all details have drawn again therefrom.

This is all)

This is how I pin out my tatting to block.I don't pin the picots -- that makes the pointed and not "natural looking". I pin inside the rings and chains, using plenty of pins to help the tatting keep it's natural, curved shape, avoiding adding any sharp points to the shape of the piece, s the pattern is supposed to have them. Pattern is available at www.geocities.com/emmacrew/tatting/snowflakes/flutterflak...

This is a VINTAGE Japanese Houmongi. Houmongi are semi-formal kimono that can be worn by both married and unmarried women. They are characterized by artfully arranged patterns that flow seamlessly across the garment's seams. This kimono likely originates in the late Showa Period (1926-1989). It displays a cheerful pattern of flowers and fluttering butterflies on a gradated background. Golden threads woven into the fabric create a glittering effect around some of the patterned portions.

I have inspected this kimono in detail, and there are some faint spot on the exterior. Damages can be seen in the photos above. Overall, I would rate this kimono as being in excellent vintage condition. There are no tears, holes or seam separations. This garment is 100% silk.

MEASUREMENTS:

Length: 167cm

Arm Span: 137cm

Width Across Back: 63cm

Total Width of Skirt: 137cm

Sleeve Drop: 51.5cm

SIZING

If you are unsure of how to interpret the kimono's size it is important to know that the length (collar - hem) should be approximately 10cm longer to 10cm shorter than the wearer's overall height (longer is better). This is because the excess length will be folded up at the waist. Meanwhile, the skirt should wrap around the hips a full 1.5 times. The armspan should also reach wrist to wrist on the wearer. In this case, the kimono will ideally fit a woman about 157cm (5'2") - 177cm (5'10") tall, with hips about 91cm (36") around. There is some give and take in these measurements though.

nothing makes a cabbage butterfly happier than a garden full of broccoli and cabbages :-) Ironic that the Garden of Wonders is growing so rich when the kids are all away on summer break. Oh well -- we can always check in on it :-)
