This Cedar Waxwing had landed, posed, taken a breath, gone FLUFF as seen here, and then back to flycatching.
I caught this hummingbird sitting on a morning glory bud! I think it is a juvenile. It's feathers were all fluffed out and I have no idea why he was doing that. In an instant he flew up to the feeder.
I used my Pentax k-x and Pentax 55-300mm lens to make this image. Processing was done in PS6 and Aperture 3.
Camera settings: ISO 800, aperture f/5.8, shutter 1/250, focal length 300mm

one of two sisters (Curly → flic.kr/p/nbLggh ) dumped at the front of my parents' yard a couple of years ago... our family is a known sucker for strays... really need to find a farm type home for these girls (they need to stay together)
hehe so behind now its silly!! i was out on a photowalk last night with ‘Chris McLoughlin’ , ‘bojangles_1953’ , ‘gav_forster, and ‘GP Images Photography’ – so didn’t manage to start sorting pics yet!
so heres a quickie shot of some balls of fluff!! – ie kittiwake chicks
and that thing under then is their nest! im constantly amazed at the precariousness of all these nesting birds!
these were sitting near the entrance of staple island – the first island you visit on the farns trip, their mum was sat just out of shot watching over them

I pulled this from my navel and took a picture with a closeup lens. You can make out the different coloured fibres if you look closely - I don't know where the red came from, I wasn't wearing red that day.

I really liked how these guys caught the light. Although, I have no idea what they are. Does anyone know?

She stayed like this for about 5 minutes before i stripped her and started making patterns for her Coraline outfit :)

Now that Willard went south for the winter, Nellie is joining Ralph and I on our walks again. For some reason she had totally fluffed out her tal on this walk!
My Mum was horrified that I'd drawn the fluff.However, I seem to be sleeping peacefully despite the apparent filth!
