Dandelions, like all things in nature, are beautiful when you take the time to pay attention to them.

Windy day and fluffed feathers make for an interesting scene.

A young Kestrel fresh out of the nest, it couldn't fly, but just sat outside nest. There were four Kestrel chicks this year, this was the boldest. It's been a good year for birds around here, but bad in ways we all know about !!

Resting and trying to stay warm, a female House Sparrow fluffs up its feathers and poses sweetly for me.
I like its feather colors as well as the color of the beak.
Enjoy the weekend, everyone...
This little guy looked sleek and slim one minute and a round ball of fluff the next. Tauhou (aka white or silver eyes) eating banana, mandarin and kiwifruit. I do enjoy hanging out watching the birds eat breakfast.
Link to 55 second movie of the birds eating breakfast on the same morning.
This little bunch of feathers was born a couple day prior to when I took this photo ( 16th July ) and was mostly staying very close to the mother which already had some almost grown up that must have hatched around late March ?

It was a cold morning when I spotted the Northern Pygmy Owl. She was all fluffed up trying to stay warm. These birds are really tiny - 5-9 inches, but they are strong for their size and can carry prey weighing more than twice their weight.
Last April, I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful male snowy owl. It this shot, it fluffed itself up and shook as the finale of its preening routine.
Aufgeplustert wie ein kleiner Feder- / Flauschball saß das Rotkehlchen im Schnee und beobachtet die Umgebung und die fallenden Schneeflocken :)

I am glad you are enjoying these dictionary shots because I love making them even if I have trouble coming up with a word sometimes.
