Reaching the Verrazano-Narrows bridge that marks the entry to the Hudson SVFR. Sadly it's a photogrammatic bridge not an actual model but serves its purpose as a recognizable VFR landmark
This could be a problem - I was expecting more scattered clouds. If I can't see the ground, knowing where I am will be difficult. Ooops, I forgot to start my timer also to determine how far I've flown on this leg
Cape Cod has already thawed after the nor'easter and weather is favorable so climbing aboard at Provincetown
Rain reached the airport as I was landing. Taxiing off the runway to ask for parking you can see that I knew the aircraft was behind me I just didn't expect it to catch up to me. Great job on the spacing, ATC and thanks for the warning - not!
Runway goes all the way to the road bordering the beach. Surprised to see no touristy plane spotters camped out there
Looking out over part of Chūō City, the heart of Tokyo. The Eitai Bridge behind my tail and a bridge with a single spire that curiously has no name on Google Maps - looks like a landmark bridge to me
Looking the opposite direction down the valley between Mount Kitanglad Range Natural Park (left) and the Kalatungan Mountains (right)
The Cleveland skyline should be visible by now but all we can see ahead of us are clouds. This should be interesting...
Could have gone further to the end of the runway but this is more than enough room. I actually probably didn't even need to cross the runway coulda departed from where I was held but ATC told me to cross so I figured why argue
As we cross the Lake towards the Detroit River, looking back we can just make out the skyline for Toledo off in the distance
You can barely make out to the right of my cockpit pillar, midway up, the aerials off in the distance that marked our turn north towards Detroit. The spit of land sticking out into the Lake didn't match the VFR charts so I wasn't sure until I spotted these additional landmarks
Coming around base for final and yea that other flight requested landing clearance and received it but is now back tracking??
Finally figure the best way is to just tell the AP to make direct for the waypoint ahead of the one I want to cut. It's also a newly-inserted waypoint that will take me near Bolivia's highest mountain - which I looked up and found to be along the way. It's also a more direct route to Titicaca to shave some distance off my trip
Okay fine well, whatever drop the oxygen masks in case and let things stabilize once I get up to FL295 in a little bit
The shore of the Great Australian Bight stretches out to the horizon as I follow the Eyre Highway along the Bunda Cliffs
Now time to hunker down and ride out a massive snow storm approaching the NE coast before continuing on my way. I expect the Cape to thaw out before the mainland...
A new aircraft - the Diamond DA62, which I will be using to explore the Nordics (minus Iceland) and western Europe. Sitting on the tarmac at Vaasa, Finland
Back up above the low cloud layer and sun again attempts to make a peek through the thicker upper layer. OMG can't get enough of water glint
