When chewing-gum magnate William Wrigley Jr. started scouting locations for his company headquarters, he wanted to make a strong impression. He found just the spot on a triangular piece of land at the northwest corner of Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River.
It was a bold move. In January 1920, as excavation began, the Michigan Avenue Bridge was still under construction, and Michigan Avenue north of the river was known as Pine Street. The Wrigley Building pioneered development of the north Michigan Avenue business district and continues to anchor it today.
By the time the South Tower reached completion in April 1921, that portion of the property was already entirely rented – which is not surprising, as the building was the first in Chicago to offer air conditioning. In May 1924, the North Tower was added, along with connector walkways at the street and third-floor levels.
For more than 90 years, The Wrigley Building has been recognized as a true Chicago original. In 2012 the City of Chicago named it a landmark, a crowning achievement for an iconic building.

Gratitude: Day 7/30
These are the famous Painted Ladies located next to Alamo Square in San Francisco. This was my first real attempt at any night photography. It's a 30 second long exposure. If you're ever in San Fran and want to shoot these at night, I recommend taking a car rather than a cab. Not to many cabs were in the area and I quickly found myself walking through a shady area of the city. I'm super grateful to the cabby who stopped to see if I needed a ride even though he was off duty.
I'm also grateful to all my sweet Flickr pals who showed me around Pasadena, Los Angeles and Hollywood yesterday. Thank you Staci, Andy, Megan, Nigel, Cristin, Tracie and Annette. I had so much fun with you all and will treasure the fun times and laughs always!
at the back door!

you really should check out his work, and more info on the house on his photo linked above! Besides, his photo features a story about my dog Rio,....

My wonderful friend Anna in one of the amazing abandoned houses. I saw the chair standing there and immediately thought of a woman waiting for her man coming home from the war. I found the old writing journal in another room of the house. Thank you Anna for modeling! <3
I am posting much more photos of the meetup on Facebook than here on Flickr so if you want to see all of them, head over to my Facebook meetup album

Okay, goodnight flickr people.
Part of "The Quiet Series" - a series of photos I took at the LGC Meetup recently. I had been shooting so much conceptual photos recently (which I cannot publish yet) so I went there with no concepts in my mind, no idea of how the area looked, nobody I knew except for Lisa and just got inspired by the people I got to know and love there and by the beautiful nature around us.
Model is the lovely Chelsea who has the bluest eyes and is awesome because she climbs trees and such :D

Contact. Reaching. Touching.
These can take many forms, from music, imagery, writing, acting and other forms of the spoken word. Humans have always tried to express themselves in some way, since first they daubed with dye and blood upon their cave walls, danced around their hearth-fires, or told stories of the hunt and of the spirits.
Those who are familiar with my stream know that I like to express myself with words as well as images, from time to time.
I entered, on a whim, a few short stories in a competition (as much as I hate competitions). Twenty minutes ago I learned that my short story Hands had won.
