Ivy introduces her friends to her new pet Siberian Husky, 'Zach' in the game Nintendogs. In a way I'm fascinated by how captivating the kids find this pet simulator, since they played with it for hours. Personally, I find it a bit odd as computer games go, because often times it seems like the game is actively discouraging you from playing it. The dogs get tired of doing the same things, so you have to vary their routine, but eventually you run out of things to do, and then you find yourself in this odd position of waiting for the pet to be ready to play some more.

The February Ohio Foothills flickr challenge is "red." At first, I was having trouble finding "red," but now I have red-eye...red things just keep jumping out at me! This is a portion of the walls of our computer room. I went a little wild on the paint job...when Todd and I purchased this house, it was about 4 years old and the family had only painted the 3 children's bedrooms so I had blank white canvases in all of the rooms. Slowly but surely, I've painted and/or tear-wallpapered everywhere except the 3 already-painted rooms, one wall of the exercise room (I'm trying to plan out a mirror-type, stucco thing for that wall), and the half-bath (for those of you who've been to my home, you know that I frequently change the decor in that little half-bath, good ol' Spooky Claus :) so I may never paint it...anyway, back to my story. The computer room actually received this paint job because the wet bar (built by the previous owner) had a red countertop and we had a black couch; plus, I had some leftover black paint from another project...add a little red, a LOT of painter's tape, and you have heartbeat-inspired, Charlie Brown t-shirt-ish walls!

Grizzly Bear in the wild at Kootenay National Park, British Columbia, Canada.
Wildlife specialists with ParKs Canada examine and weigh the bear, and attach an ear tag and radio collar. The collar will allow park staff to closely monitor the bear’s location, while the ear tag allows quick visual identification.

The grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis), also known as the silvertip bear, the grizzly, or the North American brown bear, is a subspecies of brown bear (Ursus arctos) that generally lives in the uplands of western North America. A pronounced hump appears on their shoulders; the hump is a good way to distinguish a black bear from a grizzly bear, as black bears do not have this hump.

Another entry for the "Switch your Gender for 0L$ Flickr Challenge". This one is kind of an easy way out, cause the whole avatar is a hunt gift - that means everything you see is included, from shape to skin to eyes to hair and clothing and boots.
Nevertheless - a brillant made avatar. The skin is very decent. And for all female avatars who have a hard time to find some free male shapes and skins - there are also male avatars to receive as huntreward.
The hunt is going on at this place - better hurry up, cause i do not know how long this hunt will be on :-))

This is ring 6 out of 52!
Fabricated with sterling silver featuring a gorgeous Oregon Opal (StoneTemple on etsy).
This one was fun. I wanted to do something that shows this stone on both sides and see through like stained glass. It was a bear to get the back plate to fit just right in to the cutout on the bottom plate. Also difficult to get the shank to fit flush against the plate... Back to basics... Solder is NOT filler!!! I had to put the heat to this more times than I should have. I'm happy with it.

My cousin, Katie, had one of the nicest, most unique weddings I've ever had the pleasure of attending. She and her husband, Josh, were married on a hilltop overlooking a glorious valley at her grandfather's farm, which is in the heart of Amish Country. The reception was in the barn (which is quite a noticeable landmark in that area I might add). There were also games on the lawn for people to play during the evening.
So, for the Ohio Foothills challenge - "Family Fun" - I have selected my cousins Sarah, Nathan and Gabriel (three of six siblings) playing bocce ball. I had never heard of this game. The basic concept (or at least the way they were playing) is that you are divided by colors - green and red in this case - which determines your team. Then you have to take turns throwing the green and red balls at a white ball far from you to see which team can land the closest.
Here's a link to read a little more about it without getting too technical ...
It may have been winter, with frigid water temperatures, but it didn't stop these two from having a little fun in the surf.

The Calgary Stampede White Hat Drop was an event that took place on May 9, 2012 in Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary. In each city, 200 participants each picked one of 200 white cowboy hats that had been “dropped” on the ground, in the hopes of winning a VIP Calgary Stampede experience, including tickets to see the sold-out Garth Brooks concert to be held in the Saddledome in July during Stampede Week. In Calgary, the event took place in the Olympic Plaza in the heart of the city's downtown.
Photo taken March 9, 2012 at the Olympic Plaza in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The Rotunda, dedicated in honour of Ernest and Elizabeth Samuel, is the Museum’s ceremonial entrance hall. It features one of the Museum’s most magnificent architectural treasures—a spectacular mosaic dome that has fascinated generations of staff and visitors.
Charles T. Currelly, the first director of the Royal Ontario Museum of Archaeology, conceived of this mosaic introduction for the 1933 addition. The mosaic ceiling was designed to reflect the breadth of the collections, being adorned with patterns and symbols representing cultures throughout the ages and around the world.
The ceiling is made from thousands of sheets of imported Venetian glass, cut into more than a million tiny coloured squares. A team of skilled workers laboured for eight months to install the ceiling.
Its sparkling gold, rust and bronze background is inset with red, blue and turquoise patterns, recalling the magnificent mosaics of the Byzantine world and Eastern Europe. Worked out on the golden field are geometrical borders and panels which frame decorative floral designs. The central panel is inscribed with a passage from the Book of Job in the Old Testament: “That all men may know his work”.
