I am going to attempt the x 100 for the second time (first was Bob Dylan songs and I got to 20!). To try to actually finish the challenge I am going to do 10-10 x 10 Thanks Peter www.flickr.com/photos/pixelatedsky/ and Andrew for encouraging me . I may not post all of them individually, some may end up in a single 10 x10 collage. I have picked my 10 topics, though a few may change. They are:
My birdbath
My Garden
My Postcode
My son
My daughter
Protests
Bob Dylan songs
Monochrome
50 mm
and a colour
Soooo-the first from my birdbath which I am most excited about. It was a very hot day and this Magpie was having a ball splashing about.

Thank you so much everyone for your visit, faves and comments!
They are truly appreciated! HSoS! :)
**P.S. Decided to post this one for the challenge, even though it's more "red" than "Ohio Foothills-ish"...specifically the trees/snow/house reflection is of Madison Avenue on Pike Hill.
still stuck on red and Roonie...this is his rear, driver's side with the same reflection of my neighbor's homes/yards only it's a little curvy due to being on the rear panel instead of the window; decided to keep the car theme going with the stop-sign framing and tire track background...probably overkill, but oh well---photoshop play continues :) Again, Roonie's actually maroon--I brightened him up in honor of my "red" hunting :) He's gonna have an identity complex soon if I keep doing that (ha!).

not really...it's lovely to look at but not to drink (hee-hee!) It's ironic this evening (after the torrential downpours and tornado warnings/possible touchdowns) that yesterday I actually said, "gee, I wish it would rain so the creek would be flowing a bit more." Oops! Sorry if I wished today's storms upon us! Anyway, these are Sunfish Creek rocks taken at Long's Retreat Family Resort and Campground in Latham, Ohio. There actually was a cardinal bathing in the water, but of course, that one turned out too blurry :(

For the Monday Challenge group. This week's challenge was to go back into your archives just this ONCE and find a picture that you have overlooked! One that you NEVER worked with or posted but that you can find new potential in. I've been moving my pictures from my computer's hard drive (which is full) to a portable hard drive for pictures only. In the process I've come across more than a few pics that fit this description. I've also deleted lots! A tedious but necessary housecleaning project.

3/ 100 2017 X100 Challenge Theme Bob Dylan Songs
"We live in a political world
Where peace is not welcome at all
It's turned away from the door
To wonder some more
Or put up against the wall"
/watch?v=jg29g6D0sPs
This song is the opening track on Oh Mercy, released in 1989. It was a comeback of sorts for Dylan who was struggling for inspiration to write. "Everybody works in the shadow of what they have previously done. But you have to overcome that." The most outstanding song on this album is Man in the long black coat, gloriously covered by Mark Lanegan but I digress...
This street art depicted in this image is located in a Laneway off Queen Victoria Market by the artist Heesco (Thanks Andrew). I'll let you make your own connections between the image and Dylan's song, but for me, it couldn't be more relevant with the recent exclusion events in the USA. The cover of the Oh Mercy album is a piece of street art that Dylan came across in Hell's Kitchen, New York so I thought that made a nice tie in.
This is the first image in my 100 X 2017 series. My theme is Bob Dylan songs.
Most people who love music have some-one that has been the sound track to their lives.
For me it is Bob Dylan.
My love affair started when I was a teenager. It was not cool to like Bob Dylan where I came from in the 1970s but there was a small group of us who were dedicated followers, a secret society that would sit around, discussing his lyrics, like pretentious intellectuals. Many of my vinyls have written notes on the lyric sheets. When I heard he was coming to Australia in 1986, my first opportunity to see him, I rang my boyfriend in tears and said that once I see him I can die (True Confessions Tour with Tom Petty at Kooyong). I went to both concerts just in case. Well, fortunately for me I didn't and went on to see all his tours to Melbourne since. Anyone who has seen BD knows that his concerts are "like a box of chocolates" you never know what you are going to get. However, I always feel I am in the presence of royalty (His Bobness).
What I love most about his songs is that they always take me on a lyrical journey of such rich imagery and adventure, I can see the places, the characters, their clothes, the ridiculous and the heartbroken. I can feel the rage of injustice, the blistering sun, the outrageous, idiot wind and smell her sweet perfume.
This image is of me holding Bob's first album Bob Dylan (1962), surrounded by all his original vinyls I have collected over the years. I imagine I have bitten off more than I can chew in trying to do this but I think I will have some fun and I hope you aren't too bored by the journey and can share it with me.

Flickr x 100 2017 Challenge Bob Dylan Songs
Positively Fourth St 8/100
This song was recorded in 1965 and was released as a single, making it to the top 10 in the charts. Rolling Stone magazine ranked the song as No. 206 in their 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list. Breaking all the Top 40 rules, the song's title is not mentioned once in the song and it does not have a chorus!
It is a pretty vitriolic song, almost written as an open letter:
You've got a lotta nerve to say you are my friend
When I was down you just stood there grinnin'
You've got a lotta nerve to say you got a helping hand to lend
You just want to be on the side that's winnin'
and ..
I know the reason, that you talked behind my back
I used to be among the crowd you're in with
Do you take me for such a fool, to think I'd make contact
With the one who tries to hide what he don't know to begin with?
The title probably refers to one or many of the 4th Streets found in New York City where Dylan spent much of his early career.
There is a lot of speculation about who the song was written about but it seems likely it was aimed at the Greenwich Village crowd who criticized Dylan for betraying his roots in traditional folk styles and selling his soul to "pop" and rock and roll via the electric guitar.
To quote Paul Williams (1990) -Rather than selling out, Dylan saw this new direction as a "huge new playground to create and communicate and be perverse in". And he did.
I could only find one Fourth Street in Melbourne!

Flicker x 100 2017 challenge. 24/100 Theme- Bob Dylan songs Evangelical Phase.
From the years 1979 to1981, Dylan, born a Jew, became a born-again Christian, releasing three albums reflecting his new found evangelicalism (Slow Train Coming, Saved and Shot of Love). While Dylan has often used religious and biblical imagery in his lyrics, he had never before dedicated entire songs and albums in such an overtly religious way. It seemed out of character for such a counter-culture icon. Of course this alienated fans although it was also a period where he was most engaging with the audience and he managed to utter more than two words during a concert, often preacher style. However, during this phase, he still produced some beautiful songs with evocative imagery. Listen to Every Grain of Sand vimeo.com/61822795.
Some info sourced from www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/b...
Of Dylan's conversion he says that late in 1978 he sensed “a presence in the room that couldn’t have been anybody but Jesus”, and even felt a hand placed upon him. “
I have sat on this image for awhile due to the circumstances around the time I took it. It was during the January school holidays when I took my daughter into the city for some shopping and photography. It was just after lunch and we were sitting on a bench in the sunshine of the Bourke St Mall, enjoying the street performers and buskers. I saw the bike and as I was on the lookout for images for my Dylan Challenge, I thought this would work as a representation for his religious phase. The next day, just after lunch, a young man with a history of mental illness, drug use and family violence drove down the Mall, including where we had been sitting, deliberately running into pedestrians. Six people died and over 30 were injured, and many, many more left traumatised by what they saw. I was haunted by how the author of this sign may have interpreted the incident and the fact that it could have been my daughter and I. One is tempted to use the words "but for the grace of God" and relate it to the image but I find that offensive as what does that leave for the people who did die and who lost loved ones in a most random and horrific way?
By 1982 Dylan returned to Judaism. He has just released a Bootleg called Trouble No More: The Bootleg Series Vol 13/1979-1981 which covers this period.
Apologies for length of post
The Shiba Inu is a Japanese breed of hunting dog. A small-to-medium breed, it is the smallest of the six original and distinct spitz breeds of dog native to Japan. A small, alert and agile dog that copes very well with mountainous terrain and hiking trails, the Shiba Inu was originally bred for hunting. It looks similar to, and is often mistaken for, other Japanese dog breeds like the Akita Inu or Hokkaido, but the Shiba Inu is a different breed with a distinct blood line, temperament, and smaller size than other Japanese dog breeds.
