This afternoon I made 2 paper buntings from the pages of an old music sheet book... I'll hang them on the walls of our charity sale room... I'm one of the cashiers the day of the sale...
Here you have my contribution to this week's theme #flatlay for the Swedish flickr group Photo Sunday.
I baked two apple pies today. One to try for our dessert tonight (to see if it tasted good!) and one to take to our Thanksgiving dinner #1 tomorrow with my in-laws. I was first asked to bake a pumpkin pie but my niece is bringing that one instead. I don't normally bake pies because I have never given myself much practice over the years. Cakes are so much easier and are more of a dessert preference to me. I made the crust a little thicker than I would have liked but it seemed to work out well because it holds all the cinnamony apple goodness together when you go and serve it on a plate. To my surprise they didn't burn and turned out well. I'd say that is a big win for me! :D

There are many things that bring or give us joy. Today I am happy for my daughter's joy because she passed her drivers test. She was a little bit nervous as she is a perfectionist and did not want to fail. This kid is not a failure at anything. We celebrated her success with spending the rest of the day together with lunch out and shopping at the mall. Spending time like this together with her brings me joy because it is so rare. She is growing up so fast and life for her is getting busier and busier with her school work, job, socializing with her friends, etc. I used to tease her about me being her own personal Uber driver and driving her here, there and everywhere. That routine will now change and I am not too sad about it because I am happy for her joy. I remember when I was 16 and passing my own drivers test. Hard to believe it was so long ago because it still feels like it was yesterday. Slow down time, please....

I had this bright (not) idea to do one of the hoop flatlays with Taivas in the hoop. She wasn't impressed and had no intention of cooperating and instead caused havoc. Well, I suppose I can't really blame her. 😃
I confess that I was originally confused about what this subject referred to. I'm glad I looked it up.

No uso bolso, tengo un par de mochilas y una especial para la cámara de fotos.
En ella, además de la reflex (obviamente) llevo un par de tarjetas de memoria, un lápiz y desde hace un tiempo, un midori donde ir anotando cosas sobre mis viajes.

Claro que recibir postales por correo ordinario, sobretodo en fechas señaladas es algo que deberÃamos recuperar!!
Plastic bits like this in the environment can be deadly for large birds, small animals and fish. The bright colors can look like food items which of course they are not. The critters eat them and can't digest them and over time can fill their stomachs with inert food causing them to starve to death. They also break down into smaller and smaller bits to become micro. Scary for us these micro plastics this are now appearing in our own food chain.

"Purpurroter Cousinot" ist eine alte Apfelsorte, deren genauer Ursprung nicht mehr bekannt ist. Aufgrund seiner intensiv roten Farbe wurde er als Weihnachtsbaumschmuck verwendet.
"Purple Cousinot" is an old apple variety whose exact origin is no longer known. Due to its intense red color, it was used as a Christmas tree decoration.

Compositionally Challenged Week 50 - Hygge
Hygge is about taking time away from the daily rush to be with loved ones or enjoying life's quieter pleasures by yourself. It is about comfort, coziness, contentment. Our challenge this week is to capture what Hygge means to us.

Apparently, June 19th, (known as Juneteenth) is the day that slavery was finally ended in the USA when the last slaves were freed in Texas at the very end of the civil war. I recently bought these keys in a flea market, had a blood red ribbon and a rusty texture shot in Bristol Harbour - and had this 19th century British history book with a whole section (of questionable academic accuracy) on the American Civil War. Thought it was timely to put them together in this 'symbolic' flatlay still life. It won't be everyone's cup of tea...but anything to celebrate the end of slavery and oppression has to be ok with me. Now I won't be happy until we can celebrate the liberation of Ukraine...
CC Week 43 Food and Beverage
Originally I planned on finding a panaderia here in California like the ones in Mexico that bake all kinds of goodies. I was going to use a metal tray and tongs to pick out various breads and pastries, but I was thwarted in my plan. First, there was no self serve, possibly due to COVID changing so many things. Everything was behind glass, and your order was picked up by tongs and put directly in a bag. Also, they only accept cash, so I could only afford two churros as I had very little money with me. Consequently, I had a nice treat, but no photo of a variety of baked goods on a tray.
As information, this photo was taken inside my vehicle, which is as far as these churros went, as I soon gobbled them up and was on my way to do errands.
