A "Happy Smile on Saturday"

and a nice weekend for all of you. 😊

Down, down, down. Would the fall never come to an end?

Her fall has not come to an end, but the month of Alice has. Inexplicably, my final photo is of Alice at the beginning of her story! I just go where my inspiration leads me. This Blythe doll is Fani Flamingo for “Alice” on Facebook. This picture is a chalkboard flat lay.

Now, into August we go, full of excitement for the double theme “Summertime/Back to School”! See you tomorrow!

"Everything and Anything but it has to be B&W!"

Fallen autumn leaves collected, placed face-up on a tabletop and photographed from directly above.

It's my final day for orange. II ran out of time to find anything too exciting so I rummaged around in the pantry for some ideas. I have used smoked paprika, turmeric, curry powder, Berbere, cayenne pepper, Salmar seasoning, and fenungreek.

Back to some baking today, I had to use the last of apples I had harvested last weekend.

Challenge: Triangular Composition. I used cardstock, buttons and complimentary colors to create this flatlay. Have a great week!

Compositionally Challenged May Most Versatile - White

(eggs are hard to come by these days!)

Our office’s current photo contest theme is flat lay photography. I practiced flat lays and still life on some cranberries over the Thanksgiving holiday. Had never done this before and honestly, the composition and design intimidated me a bit. Was great fun though and hope to do it again before the end of December. Learned a lot!

Experiments with flat lay photography

A few days late with my 'spring' photo, but since we haven't actually made it to summer (and there's still some snow left on the ground) I don't feel too badly about my tardiness.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

The Remington 12: Journalism’s Workhorse of the 1920s

In the dimly lit Toronto Star newsroom of the 1920s, the Remington 12 desktop typewriter reigned supreme. Heavy, durable, and reliable, its black steel frame and crisp keystrokes matched the relentless pace of the paper’s growing reputation. Editors barked orders, reporters clattered away, and stories of the city’s triumphs and tragedies took form on its smooth, ivory keys. The Remington 12 was a workhorse, built to endure long hours and harsh deadlines. These typewriters churned out countless headlines, from political scandals to world wars, bridging the gap between breaking news and the readers eagerly waiting on Toronto’s streets. For the Star, the Remington 12 wasn’t just a machine; it was the heartbeat of the newsroom, a silent partner in its mission to inform and inspire.

Day 287/365:

14/31: October 2022: A month in 31 pictures

I picked this book up while on my walk yesterday. We have an old telephone box in our village that has been repurposed as a library. I saw this classic and couldn't resist. The writing is very small so I may struggle to read it but it's proved useful already....with my other new photo board.

It was my book group Christmas meal last night. We all buy a book for the Secret Santa, this is my offering. I had another practise at brush stroke lettering on the tag which I thought would be nice to use as a bookmark. I hand stamped the wrapping paper as I am very aware that we need to use paper that is recyclable. I have also started using brown paper tape.

It looks like Christmas has begun so I thought it was probably okay to start with the Christmas photos! It was also a chance to show my new gold star ornament.

This photo was taken for "Crazy Tuesday - Flat Lay" but when I re-read the challenge this morning, I realised that food items weren't allowed. Doh!

After not drinking coffee for over thirty years, I recently discovered I really quite like it. So I bought a Nespresso coffee machine and love it. For those of you who don't get the title, George Clooney advertises Nespresso.
