Playing around with colors and leftover donuts. I might have to keep these around for a few more days to experiment with for food photography practice.

This was my stepdaughter's watercolour box when she was around 5 --- I think it's evident it was well used! She painted wonderful things with these colours.

I’m tired of tea! Today, we’re having a CHEESE party!

This Blythe doll is Hello Arden (aka Hello Again Junie Moonie Cutie) for “Alice” on Facebook and “Cheese” on Flickr. The stack of cheese is an ornament from Hallmark that I’ve had for a while and I’m happy to have a chance to use it!

We are passionate about bringing a relaxed approach while creating beautiful, natural and vibrant images.

Have joined a group that "Practices Random Acts of Kindness and Senseless Beauty". It's a rock painting group and we get together paint rocks, and put them in public places for people to find.

These spices and seasonings help me with my cooking, such a calming activity for me.

This is the flat lay I made when photographing my tulips on Sunday. I always like to get the most from tulips, or any flowers. There could be more to come as they haven't totally fallen apart yet and I love the way the colour deepens as they dry out.

Another day, another high key still life. I still had the flower heads from yesterday's photo and it seemed such a shame to waste them.

October 2023: A month in 31 pictures

We took this wreath down from our living room wall as we are decorating. I thought ahah, I could use that in a flat lay. I popped some little rosebuds, that I dried, in it for a little splash of colour. And gave Elizabeth (I assume that is Elizabeth Bennet) a little rosebud to hold. The flowers bottom right are my daughter-in-law's bridesmaid bouquet from a few years ago.

Penultimate day of the October challenge, not sure whether to feel happy or sad.

#10 - 100 x challenge - Lensbaby

A flat lay is probably not the best use of a Lensbaby but it was on the camera so I thought I'd give it a go.

I made this card for my friend's husband and wanted to get a photo of it before I gave it to him.

Photographed with some vintage bits and bobs. The map is from our local antique market and the papers in the bottom left corner are letters from the Civil Service Commission. I bought them at an antiques fair as the address on the envelopes (dated 1923) is not too far from where I grew up. The days when we could go to markets and fairs seem such a thing of the past, I can't imagine being comfortable in a crowd now.

One of a number of images I have been putting together with items shot in a box or frame - this time in a shallow box I made myself and roughly and rustically painted. The Meadow Brown butterfly was shot on a flower along the Ridgeway in Wiltshire about a year ago. I am grateful to Stan Farrow FRPS - and his seemingly endless creativity - for the inspiration.

A rather random collection of stuff. I bought this mug the other day, I was drawn to the shape but I also love the colour which is why I left it empty. My daughter-in law lent me this book a while ago, I haven't got around to reading it yet but it went well with the mug. I've been wanting to use the little wooden spoon in a pic for a while. I scrounged the hydrangea from my neighbour...I was admiring it so she cut it for me, it's drying nicely. I added the starfish for good measure...they are from my recent trip to Lanzarote.

This may not be the most seasonal dessert but it's my son's favourite and that is a good enough reason for me to make it.

I thank you for all your visits, favourites and comments, they are truly appreciated.

Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year wherever you may be... take care of yourselves and keep clicking.

The neighbour dropped off some baking for us. Before the family could eat it, I got to photograph it.

29/100: 100 x challenge - Flowers

29/100: 100 Flowers 2020

It's strange, I love doing flat lays but when I have to do one for a challenge it suddenly becomes difficult.

This is a birthday card I made for a very dear friend, we don't see each other often but when we do it's like we saw each other the day before. I got the inspiration for the card from a flat lay I did a couple of weeks ago. So thought I would do another flat lay incorporating the card...it's come full circle. The flowers are from my flower delivery last week. They had to make an appearance for the flower challenges. There are also bits from my craft stash...and I wrote the greeting using my recently learned brush stroke lettering...I keep meaning to practise more.

Sending you blue skies and sunshine!

This Blythe doll is Float Away Dream, posing for the theme “Sunshine” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr. The sun is made of construction paper. Dress by WoollyRockers on Etsy.

The chive flowers were laying on the ground after the heavy rains of the night, so I picked them up and made a few shots...

A change of lens for this flat lay. I have always used the Canon 5D and Velvet 56 for my Lensbaby flat lays but I have a new tripod with an arm to hopefully make flat lays easier (we shall see). I used the Canon R6 and the LB composer pro II with double glass II optic. Not sure if it looks a bit flat (no pun intended) but I really like the blur around the edges.
