First harvest of the year! Love that radishes have such a quick growing cycle, it is very satisfying to teach my daughter about gardening and to get quick and delicious results.
Have a fantastic Friday!
A surprise envelope from France arrived to my mailbox!
Odile sent me beautiful autumn treasures that she collected from her garden ... these Ginkgo leaves are a wonderful example of the autumn color palette. He also sent me an envelope with Cosmo seeds, which I hope will fill my garden with color next summer. The beautiful paper buntings are a preview of Christmas time that is approaching.
Thank you dear Odile! You are a treasure!

These leaves were ready to fall from our acer bush so I gave them a helping hand for todays shot.
I am so behind with commenting after having been in France for a week and then my sister was staying with us for a week. We are going to be away for the weekend...probably with no internet. I will try to catch up when back.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
April 2026: a month in 30 pictures
A quick flat lay when I remembered I needed to take a photo just before I go out for the evening. I still had the Sol 45 on my camera so disengaged the aperture blades to avoid the texture they give.
Sorry to post and run again, I seem to spend my life saying I will catch up later.
Nothing special but I just wanted to take a photo. The weather has been a bit grim, the news even grimmer, so a blue flat lay to try to beat the winter blues.
I like to use things that bring back memories for me. I bought the fabric necklace in Lanzarote, the star in Anglesey. The thread belonged to my mother-in-law and the Reckitt's blue squares are from a trip to an antique store in Canada (with two wonderful Flickr friends.) I bought them because when I was a hairdressing apprentice, many years ago, ladies used Reckitt's blue bags (which were designed for whiter laundry) to rinse their hair to take away any yellow. How things have changed.
I hope you are all keeping safe and well in your corner of the world. Have a lovely weekend.
Day 344/365:
A just in case flat lay before we went away for the weekend. I didn't have time to post it yesterday.
April 2023: A month in 30 pictures
We've had our grandson staying with us since we got back from Norfolk. He is a five year old whirlwind so I'm pretty exhausted...so a rather thrown together flat lay and so much for trying to catch up on Flickr!
Lensbaby Velvet 56 and added textures (my own)
Wishing you all a wonderful (and relaxing) weekend
Smile on Saturday! :-) theme : Flat Lay
Thank you everyone for your visits, faves, and kind comments
This drove me crazy, I couldn't get them to line up nicely. I can, and will have to, live with this one :)
I cropped the photo to almost a square of about 5 by 5,5 cm.
Happy Macro Monday.

The shot I had planned for today suited tomorrow better, so desperation set in!!
Lol. It happens 😁
Time to put the wreath on the front door. I made this wreath a few years ago from flowers I had made from old books. Sorry if you're getting fed up with my gold star! :) Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Mijn moeder riep regelmatig: "Ik ben helemaal in de bonen", het was nooit ernsitg , meestal was ze gewoon haar sleutel of portemonnee kwijt.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My mother regularly said: "I'm 'helemaal in de bonen'", it was never serious, most of the time she just couldn't find her key or wallet.
? meaning; "to be all at sea" or "to be in a complete fog" or "to be way off beam" or "I'm all over the place", I am not sure about a good translation.

Got the idea for this in a Google search of flat lay books.
In 1987, in the quiet after-hours at Frank Gehry’s furniture shop, as a janitor named Andrew Kromelow cleared up, he would gather stray tools and experiment with arranging them in a grid-like pattern.
He called the practice “knolling,” after the hard angles of Knoll furniture, a popular brand that Gehry was designing for at the time.
Today, knolling more often refers to the art of spacing out objects on a flat surface at tidy angles to one another and photographing the arrangement from above.
In our summer garden: wisteria, aquilegia, wisteria leaves, violas, a sprig of aquilegia foliage and (centre) some small rockery flowers - colours of purple, green, pink and a little white.
HSS!
Happy Sunday and thank you for visiting my photostream!

33/52: The weekly challenge - An everyday item
When you do a 365 a camera is an everyday item, I don't very often photograph it though.

These roses may have been past their best but I couldn't part with them until they'd been used for at least one photo. I used a film filter for a vintage effect.
Day 365:
Unfortunately two of our elderly neighbours passed away recently so I had to make a couple of sympathy cards. I made them in the same design but slightly different techniques. It feels a little bit wrong to use them as my photo for the day but in the absence of any other ideas it's all I have. I did have a Gloria idea but she wasn't in the mood ;)
It is almost the end of May! I can't believe how fast the time flies...*poof!!*...
Today is another cold and dreary day so I took to staying indoors for today's photo. The weather has been up and down and I am feeling a cold trying to get it's grip on me. I just can't get warm.
I hope everyone had a great day...thanks for visiting :)

I wanted to get another use from the bluebells. I don't feel so bad picking them then...sorry if it's a bit samey (is that a word?)
- a flatlay for Saturday Self-Challenge: knolling

1/52: The 2020 52/12 challenge - What's new?
1/100 x challenge - flowers
1/100 flowers 2020
I took this on 1st January, a brand new day in a brand new year...these flowers arrived today so they are new, the spoon is new (there's story behind that which I will save for another day...it will be featuring in more pics this year) and the little white star is new.
This is also my first photo for the 100 x challenge, I chose flowers for my theme this year.
I have also joined 100 flowers in 2020 but decided against the commitment of the 366. My heart was telling me to do it but my head said nooooo!
125/365: I always feel so guilty when I pick flowers as photo props but I do keep them in water and try to use them again. We are going to refit our bathroom and got some tile samples. I thought this one would make a great textured backdrop. I thought it looked quite like a wall and that the flowers might look nice against it. Okay, I am getting desperate for ideas now!
10/30: April 2019: A month in 30 pictures
The photo I had planned for today didn't work so here are my ballet shoes again (a fairly recent acquisition) along with the tickets from our trip to the opera...present for a big birthday several years ago.
Day 231/365:
Definitely Dreaming: Not whole. Not the whole keyboard.
I took the image on my MacBook, with my iPhone, a couple of days ago but wasn't really happy with it. I went on to take the one with the roses which I was more pleased with.
Too much pain to set anything up today. I have a little table in front of an upright chair that I sit on with either an ice pack or a hot water bottle to relieve the pain. So I took this iPhone image of the photo on my MacBook screen...and that will have to do for today. Just pleased to get another day done and at the moment that is all I can hope for. All looking a bit samey though, let's call it a series ;)
The ebook I am reading is part of the Outlander series. Book seven of Nine. They are all between 1000-1200 pages long so not for the faint hearted.
January is a very dark (and, currently, very wet) month in the UK — the warm rich tones of Christmas are past us and we're in a curious in-between time, waiting for the Spring.
30/30: April 2021: A month in 30 pictures
I was really stumped for ideas today, I think I'd started to unwind a day too early. So another flat lay with lace.
I started the month with good intentions and really tried to keep up with commenting but failed miserably. So that's it for another year, lovely to catch up with some old faces and see some new ones too.
On another note, we had our second vaccine today so feeling a bit more positive about everything.
