Today (12/05/2024) was the 61st Historic Commercial Vehicles Society (HCVS) London to Brighton road run, although this year the start was moved to Brooklands Museum near Weybridge. This meant a new route for the first half of the run so it was off to Mickleham, just north of Dorking on the A24, to witness the spectacle.
It was a fantastic spot as not only did we see the 100+ HCVS entries drive past, stacks of classic cars, motorbikes, cyclists and walkers were all out doing their thing. A thoroughly enjoyable morning!!

I can't remember the last time I was so happy to find a generic Matchbox casting but the new MBX Flatbed King is certainly no ordinary "Matchbox Original". Its biggest talking point has of course been its rear flatbed which actually slides across and then down to enable a suitably sized diecast to be put onto its back. Very novel for a modern savagely cost cutted Matchbox and one which will no doubt have a very wide appeal with kids and collectors alike. Its other big feature, certainly for me, is the fact it has incorporated the modern Euro style cab of the 2006 Cement Mixer meaning a very believable Scania/Daf appearance. Happily I found this in an ASDA who had just stocked up with Batch J and one which had previously thought to have missed the U.K. completely! Mint and boxed.
MOC Rescue Flatbed. First created in MLCad, then built with real bricks. The rescue crew is taking care of a blue convertible that broke down on the highway.
